Despite strong evidence to the contrary, English really is my first language. Like many of you I have been writing stories in my head for a long time. This is my first attempt to transfer one to paper, at least the digital version of paper.

I am sure that if I took a creative writing class, they would teach me how to structure a story before writing one. Probably something like “You must have a beginning, a middle, and an end. You have to know the story arc in advance.” They would teach a pedagogical approach to writing.

If capturing my first story has taught me anything (besides how indispensable my spell checker is), it is that stories have a life of their own. I never could have predicted the direction this story, and the characters living in it, was headed. There were times when I felt like all I was doing was taking dictation.

The beauty of the Skyrim (or any other Fan Fiction) universe in the 21st century is the amount of resources available to do research. So much is available, just a web search, or an email away.

Thank you to everyone who shared their Elder Scrolls expertise. A special thank you to Daniel Ran, whose music kept me company for many of the hours I spent writing. Anyone needing to set the proper Skyrim mood can quickly be transported by his music. Such as:
