And none of the houses are truly customisable in a sandbox kind of way.
Hearthfire gives you more options, but you are still simply choosing from a list of options, you can't choose specific furniture, decorations etc. - just pick what you want from the list that is provided.
That's not to...
For a while I was pretty disappointed by the fairly limited customisation that Hearthfire offered. But as time has gone on, I'm not so bothered. for 2 main reasons.
1. There are several mods that allow different options, and they cover quite a range of properties.
2. Short of learning to...
Archery and Sneak were pretty close. I think Sneak got there first. I spend most of my time gliding through dungeons taking out bandits from 2 rooms away. Practically the only time they see me is when my follower goes all Leeroy Jenkins and blows my cover.
I am tempted to get the mod that stops the imperial/stormcloak leaders being essential after the war because it does get quite irritating when you come across one of the camps by accident and that one guy won't shut up.
There's often a chest or a few corpses floating around, but nothing truly exciting. Given that the game includes waterbreathing I would have expected more use of the underwater sections.

Enter house
Drop items that you want to place on the floor
Leave house
Re-enter house
Place objects
Leave house

If you're on PC you can use the console to locate her. If you're on a PS3/XBOX, then that's not going to help.
If you're comparing it to Minecraft then you're starting out wrong. It's nothing like that. You don't build the house you want. You choose from the options available to customize a house to your taste, but your choices are limited. The houses are pretty good - and I'm enjoying fiddling with...
Playing on adept. mainly relying on archery and armor because my melee skills suck. I am now getting to the point where it seems a bit easy at times, so I may need to bump that up.
It is still very satisfying to sweep through a dungeon killing everything from two rooms away with a single...
