Square Enix Releases New Drakengard 3 Videos

by on December 17, 2013

Square Enix has updated its YouTube page with a new trailer and two television spots for the latest entry in the Drag-On-Dragoon action-RPG series, known as Drakengard in the west, showing off all of the dragon-riding, dragon-fighting, and dramatic shouting the new game has to offer.

Drakengard 3 is a prequel to the original game in the series, and focuses on a conflict between powerful figures known as Intoners. The main character, Zero, is a rogue Intoner intent on killing the other five with the help of her pacifist dragon, Mikhail, and her companions the Apostles, a harem she allows to tag along to satisfy her sexual desires. Definitely something to show to those people who complain JRPG stories are all the same.

The game’s story will also tie in to another Square Enix franchise, Nier. Nier is set in a dark future derived from one of the original Drakengard’s multiple endings, so it will be interesting to see how that plotline is worked into a prequel.

Drakengard 3’s Japanese version is already receiving praise, scoring a 34 out of 40 in Famitsu.

The game will be available for PS3 and releases this Thursday in Japan, with a U.S. and European release set for sometime in 2014.

Check out the other clips at Square Enix’s YouTube site.

More information is available at the game’s official site.
