What we knew already was that Fire Emblem Fates for the Nintendo 3DS would have two different stories depending on which faction in the game’s war you chose to back. What we didn’t know was that you’d be making this choice at the register.
Amazon.com now has listings for Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest and Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright, each costing $40. Before you raise your fist and whirl it around in proletariat rage, be aware that the game was released in Japan like this. There was a theory that Nintendo would be combining the two games when they came to America, but now that seems unlikely.
Also be aware that Japan got a combo pack that contained both game cards for a reduced price. Even though Amazon doesn’t have a listing for that version in English yet, that doesn’t mean it isn’t coming. You can also buy one game and then buy the other as DLC, but that isn’t likely as appealing to you.
Both versions of Fire Emblem Fates are expected to arrive on sale in North America during the first quarter of 2016.
