Now that Final Fantasy 7 Remake has been delayed by a month, what will Square do to fill the time and keep anticipation hyped? Release the demo? Nah, that’d make too much sense. Put out yet another trailer? That’s more their speed….
This new trailer is the most revealing one yet, to the point that people who would prefer to avoid spoilers might not want to watch. Entire finished scenes with full dialogue are shown…Little Cloud and Little Tifa sitting on the well in Nibelheim, the Turks plotting their schemes, Professor Hojo staring at his monitors while ranting like a mad scientist, and….RED XIII! WE’VE GOT RED XIIII, PEOPLE!
Unexpectedly, we also got a trip inside the Honey Bee Inn, a key part of Cloud’s cross-dressing trade sequence. It’s been revamped from a skeevy no-tell motel into some kind of Broadway dance number, complete with fireworks. Cloud still looks as embarrassed as ever, even more so now that his screen model actually has a face.
Most of the scenes are remakes of existing ones (it says “Remake” on the box, after all), but there are a couple new things. Roche. a new character who trained with Cloud in SOLDIER, is shown here. Some purists are going to be upset that Sephiroth seems to be showing up in places where he didn’t in the original, though these might be Cloud-induced hallucinations.
Maybe we’ll get one more trailer between now and the release, though they’re running out of things to show. Final Fantasy 7 Remake is coming out April 10 on Playstation 4.
