Your first character for Skyrim?

When they announced no attribute in Skyrim, I was kinda expecting there to be no race differences. Well, it's been confirmed that each race has different starting skill levels along with racial perks. Oh boy, how wrong I was. Haha. It seems they omitted a few traditional racial abilities here and there but also added a few. For example, they removed 'Fear of Eye' for Khajiit but gave them claw attack. I don't know the exact details on starting skill level for each race but it's probably similar to that of Oblivion, taking account of some removed skills, of course.

ORCS: Beserker
REDGUARDS: Adrenaline Rush
WOOD ELF: Resist poison, resisit disease, command animals
NORD: Battlecry
KHAJIIT: Night-eye, claw attacks
IMPERIAL: Voice of the Emperor, find more coins when looting
HIGH ELF: Regenerate Magicka more quickly
DARK ELF: Ancestor’s Wrath (surround self in fire), resist fire
BRETON: Dragonskin (absorb spells), resist shock
ARGONIANS: Histskin (regenerate health quickly), resist disease, breathe underwater

So, who are you going to play as on your first playthrough? Personally, I like adding character background stories and personalities in my characters. It keeps me from playing as 'myself' on every playthrough and honestly, that gets a little boring after the 2nd character. :-/

I'm going to be playing as Argonian rogue mage, similar to the character I played as on Oblivion.

Nice, you really go all out with background stories. I think for my first character, he'll be an Elsweyr rooted KHAJIIT named Dar'jo also rogue mage. I like daggers so I'll dual wield that with the usual bow and arrows.

I was thinking a battle mage type character. I am not sure about which race yet, though.. I think I'll choose depending on which race best suits being a warrior/mage hybrid. ^^

Im gonna be a Breton for their high magica and good sword and marksman skills

I am not 100% sure about the order but I will probably go first with an Argonian assassin and after that I’ll play as a Nord mage.

Argonians are not that good if you want water breathing get a ring that dose it

So with that said if you are into sneaking use a wood elf or Tony the tiger

True, items that give you water breathing obliterate that advantage. But you still have the resistances which other races would have to spend much more resources on to acquire them. But a Khajiit does sound nice, especially with the new character models. I kinda forgot about them. Thanks for the suggestion.

I don't really think much about racial perks when it comes to choosing a race. They are all nice but I prefer the racial background of these people. the lore of the elder scroll game is so rich and vibrant :]

None of those look like they start with fighting attributes? Or perhaps the berserker is that indeed. These seem very similar to Oblivion's race skills.

yeah, they are almost the same as oblivion's racial abilities. there's a bit of change here or there but overall, each race plays similarly

Argonian is my favorite, however, I would play woodelf more if the command animals was actually useful.

I always start off with a female Argonian, usually as a warrior and or thief. Been using her ever since the days of Oblivion. Her name is Adelphia. Then as a second character, a male Kahjiit. Name is usually random for him.
