Schoolwork Summer 2012

Album created by Rayven, May 29, 2012.

This is called an "Exquisite Corpse" drawing. The paper was divided into thirds. We had a 3-person group. We had to fill one third of the paper without seeing what the other two people were doing. Our subject was the book "The Secret Life of Salvador Dali". I did color the entire piece but my own third where I also did the drawing is the top right with the hills and buildings. Our paper was partitioned diagonally for this. It should be fairly obvious where one ends and the next begins. We did decide we wanted to keep some separation.

That's awesome! Weird and strange but awesome!

It is weird and strange for certain. That's somewhat the point with Surrealism. The instructor chose my drawing as the one we need to use for the next step of the project which is to design a book cover. So, yay me, I suppose.

nice homage to Dali, but then who doesn't think of Dali when thinking surrealism.

I like his cubist work better just as a matter of personal preference. I had a suspicion that neither of my group members would factor that in so my portion is pretty heavy on the cubist influence. I'm glad I got to sneak it in.

I like the sinister-looking eyeball near the purple and blue thingy. Man, I suck at art, even the terminology. And my wife's an artist, fer cripes sake!

I like the purple and blue thingy too, but I'm also biased since that's part of my original drawing. And, since it's surrealism, "thingy" is no more or less appropriate than any other word ;) Thanks for the comments.
