You can check out the faction quests like the Thieves Guild, Companions, Dark Brotherhood etc. Join in on the civil war?

As for the houses, IMO the best house is in Windhelm.

I just finished the main quest like awhile ago, I'm trying to complete all my shouts.

Complete the Daedric quests, work on your skills and do the factions like Clau said.
Also aim for every achievement/trophy or whatever it is on PC depending on what console you're using.

Dragon Priest masks, daedric quests, reach level 82, own every house, trophies/achievements, factions, civil war, collect ALL the shouts, do every single non-repeatable quest and task, get married. There's a lot you can do. And the Main Quest is only like 1% of the game it feels like when you've done a lot of the rest of the game.

A lot of general goods store / smiths sell lockpicks under the miscellaneous category. Also, bandits carry lockpicks. The one thing that is abundant in skyrim are lockpicks.

Acquire the skeleton key, never breaks and you can keep it until you wish to finish the quests.
What i did was go into bandit camps, prisons and open the gates until i got a solid lockpicking level.

You get the skeleton key about half-way through the Thieves Guild story line.

When I finish the main story I make sure I have done all the side quests an once I've don all of thoes I play it again and try to go on a different path Ex. I started off as a Vampire this time and next time I might Be a Warewolf and follow that path.

Yeah, speak to Brynjolf first, then he will ask you to meet him in the ragged flagon.

Yep. The Thieves Guild are located in the Ratway sewers. Their place is called the Ragged Flagon. Unlike the companions, you won't be able to join by just walking in and volunteering. I won't spoil it for you.To get you started with the thieves, you'll need to speak to the guy selling Falmer Blood Elixirs in the Riften market place.

    Good luck. :)

Ah you're right, the side missions you have to do for Vex and Delvin wouldn't really be a main factor of the quest line.

They do eventually get you a quest, but from what I know you need to do several of those.

You have to collect the debt off them, for Keerava talk to her husband inside the Bee & Barb i think.
But you can brawl with them if that's easier.
