Where are the Companions at while Whiterun is under attack? Are they just sitting in Jorrvaskr, conversing over sweetrolls? You'd think that if their city was under attack that they'd at least help in defending it, if not just for the sake of their HQ. They even have barricades at the entrance to it, but they themselves are nowhere to be found.

In my latest game the siege of Whiterun coincided with the Silver Hand attack. The companions seemed to be occupied that way.

Anyway, The companions make it their business to stay out of politics. And the Siege of Whiterun is just that, politics. I imagine that since they as an organization don't care who controls Whiterun, they would stay out of it as much as possible.

It is a little odd that Vignar Gray-Mane and Brill (his servant) live in Jorrvaskr till Whiterun is sacked.

they are kind of neutral about the war, so.. yes, while the war is happening out in Whiterun they just talk about sweet rolls and mead. haha

They discuss the great Sweetroll heist held before the war, they are convinced this is how it started, with the Stormcloaks trying to get their Sweetrolls back from the Imperial. And mead. Lots and lots of mead, which I DON'T FETCH FOR THEM! Damn guards.......

I guess if they aren't getting paid, why should they help? Remember they stated they don't get involved in anything unless the pay is good. All that honor comes with a price.

I have not gotten to this part yet, but it doesn't surprise me. The companions are supposed to be valiant heroes, but I've never seen one of them do anything valiant yet, except maybe Aela.

When I came back from that one quest, to find the Silver Hand had attacked, several SH were dead outside Jorrvaskr. I think they all died of ill-timed heart attacks, rather than sword thrusts from the Companions.

When Whiterun suffered a dual dragon attack a month ago, the Companions were nowhere to be found. After the attack, I found Brill dead. At least he was outside attracting the dragons' attention away from me, even though he died cowering behind a market stall. That's more than any of the Companions can say.

When Vilkas accompanied me on quest a while back, we went into a cave and ran into a werewolf. The werewolf slapped Vilkas around like a rag doll. And he's supposed to be a werewolf. :/

I do believe if I had never appeared in Whiterun, at some point Braith would have stumbled into Jorrvaskr and quickly ascended the ranks to become Harbinger herself.

Well, you missed quite a treat.

Not one dragon attacked, but two ... at the same time. There were many deaths. Fortunately beforehand, I ran a script that makes most of the npc's in the cities essential, so they can't die. That prevented the entire town from being wiped out. The hilarious thing was, throughout the attack, Sigurd continued to chop wood.

Virtually every guard was killed, as well as three members of the Battle-Borns, something most of the people around here would probably applaud. Most people around here seem to hate the Battle-Borns. I do not.
