    Help!
I recently got Skyrim for PC on my Laptop via Steam. I ran it for the first time today and it is EXTREMELY choppy. I cannot do combat because trying to turn sends you in a 90 degree spin. I am running on a Alienware M11x Laptop. Any help is appreciated!

Regarding the choppiness of the frame rates, make sure your video card is up to date. Do NOT rely on your system to determine if your driver is up to date. Many laptop's will not check for non-essential updates that improve performance of your video card with games, and NVIDIA releases many of these (over 3 that improve performance with Skyrim since its release).

If your laptop has the NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M with 1 Gb of video memory (the default video card for the M11x) then you may also have to set your graphics settings to medium as setting them higher may cause stuttering regardless of whether your driver is up to date.

Regarding the 90 degree spin it sounds like you have mouse sensitivity problems. For that I defer to Skullrattla who posted the following solution"

Alright. I do have the NVDIA Video. Where do I update it? Also when I first ran the game it set my graphics to low or whatever the lowest is and it is still lagging.

You can get the latest driver at Nvidia's website.

Which model of the M11x do you have? Is your NVIDIA video card the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 540M or the NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M?
