Private [ROF] Rise of the Falmer

Melee looks up from moving rubble, right at the Nord who just came outside. "We've come to survey the damage and help however we can. I'm also looking for Arcadia. Have you seen her?"

"Came to help cart the dead out of the city? Came to rebuild the families houses? No." The man had a grin on his face. "Your here to salvage whatever gold you can from this destroyed town, haven't you?"

( My messages will be slow for a bit so you can just take control of my guy for the time being.)

Melee walked right up to the Nord man, anger blatantly showing on her face. "What do you take us for, some low life thieves who think we can make some quick coin on the misfortune of others? I've called this city home for years, don't you dare accuse me of trying to take advantage of it in any way." Sparks seemed to fly from her eyes as her voice shook.

Alistar also turns to face the hooded man, Alistar remains reserved and calm despite the Nord's attempts to instigate emotion. "Our business is not yours." Alistar says with finality.

Emberlynn could feel her shyness disappating and her anger rising with each word the man said. "And who are you to presume that we are a bunch of filthy low-lives who would seek to benefit off the misfortune of this poor town? That may be who you are, but I was raised better than that." The man towered over her, but she did her best to maintain her composure as she stared him down.

(Hahaha Melee, I did not see your post before I posted mine... apparently our characters think alike )

The nord walked over to the group. "No, I haven't seen the alchemist, the knowledge of her location is as barren as her burned shop. Why, are you friends with her?" The man now had a concerned look on his face...

(Haha Emberlynn, I see that. xD)

Melee forces herself to take a deep breath, and she calms down noticeably. "Yes. I was living with her. When the earthquake struck I was out of town, on my way to pick up some ingredients for her. I just want to know if she's ok." Her fists unclench and runs a hand through her hair, looking around the destroyed city.

The man frowned at the Khajiit for a good minute, then his frown turned into a smile, then a laugh.
"Well, you're definatly made of stronger stuff than most Khajiit I've seen."
He turns to the rest of the travellars.
"So, whats your reason for forming a group? It cant just be to help these Whiterun citizens."

Alistar remains silent as the two speak, he sits down on an intact bench and wipes the sweat from his brow. He takes a look around and sees the destruction and death, but the Gildergreen remains intact surprisingly, he stares at the tree for a while, transfixed.

"Honestly lady, I have no idea what happened to her.I only spoke to her once and that was just for a....contract I had to fulfill."

Melee looks at the man quizzically. "Is it really that strange that a group of people just want to help? We didn't all come solely for the purpose of providing help; there were other things that were bringing us here before the earthquake happened. But we're still willing to help however we can, given the extent of the damage." She sighed looking around hopefully. "I see, I was hoping could tell us where she'd gone. Thank you anyway." Turning back to the man, she asked, "What contract are you talking about?"

"Suspected you were the assassin type." Says Alistar while lighting his pipe and taking a deep hit of Longbottom Leaf, he exhales a stream of wispy smoke before sighing.

Emberlynn's eyes widened at the stranger's words. "A 'contract', you say?" The grip on the hilt of her sword tightened. "I knew there was something suspicious about you..." She did her best to hide the fear behind her voice.

(In case you don't pick up on the hints, Emberlynn thinks you're a Dark Brotherhood assassin. )

Melee's eyes grow wide at Alistar's mentioning of an assassin. "You're.. Not an assassin, are you?"

The Nord turned to the man on the bench. "Yeah, it isn't easy to conceal. But I only accept contracts that includes taking out...bad people, I don't kill innocents."
He turns to Arcadias friend.
"Who were you expecting to help here? The corpses could always need more undertakers." He says with a menacing smile.

"No, never cared for killing over coin." replies Alistar, quelling Melee's surprise. "Met plenty of them in my life, sometimes at the edge of a blade." Alistar sets his pipe down while sighing, recounting the past.

Melee breathed a sigh of relief before looking back the Nord. "The wounded could always use help. Unfortunately, there is little we can do for those who have already passed. Who were you here to kill?"

(Need to go, guys. Might be back on tonight.)

(Until I get back, explore Whiterun and help any way you can. There is no indication the Falmer were responsible ye.

Emberlynn could not believe that this man was speaking so casually about being a murderer, and actually joking about the countless dead that lay strewn around them. She had barely known this man for two minutes, but the anger she felt toward him was already reaching a boiling point.

"More undertakers? Sounds to me like this city needs a few more corpses." She muttered under her breath, wishing she had the courage to say it louder. She turned away from him.
