The sun is essential for all life on nirn. The dead on the other hand...

Three years. Three long years... and it was all in vain.
    The sun is gone.
One arrow, fired from a blood-coated Auri-els bow was all it took. Riots, Famine, Plauges; even at a distance it was unbearable to watch. many couldent stand the idea of humanity any more and joined them, others could no longer stand life at all.
The remanents of the Dawnguard were blamed, any attempts to contact the world were ignored, mankind has given up any ideals of hope. The vampires rule with an iron fist, and every week there is a picking among each city to decide who will be fed upon. Those who attempted to flee were the the first to go.
Many tried to fight back, they could not stop them before, but they could stop them now. An elder scroll has been discovered at the college of winterhold, and The arch-mage thinks that, with more of them, the effects of the Bloodened bow could be Reversed. But the only other known scrolls are deep within vampire controlled areas- Volkihar Castle and The Dreaded realm of Coldharbour. The stakes are high, but this is the only way to stop the total Anhihlation of mortalkind.

    A Brute among Beasts
Helgen. Once a peaceful village, prospering with life. Now it lay in a State that looked as though lightening had struck the ground repeatedly. Well, if you believed the stories...
A dragon, the first seen in centuries in tamriel, had attacked this place as a stormcloak patrol was about to be executed. The impossibility of a creature, even as mighty as a dragon, being able to raze such a fortified settlement was hard to imagine, and most who heard the tale refused to believe it.
Oh dragons are real, Brendela thought to herself. She would know whether a dragon was real, she had seen one for real. Infact it was pure luck that the dragon had not seen her, or she probably wouldent be here now.

'Because missing out on this would be my worst nightmare' The girl growled to herself with a quick glance up at the sky. Unlike on most nights, most of the stars could not be seen at all, almost as if the big, black, gaping hole that people used to call the sun was sucking more and more of them into it's mass. Being able to tell the time was hard enough without any sun movement, but now the stars were dissapearing the world would be almost impossible to see. For regular mortals anyway.

And thats why she had started to send messages out to form a resistance. Once the stars were gone people wouldent even be able to see, much less swing a weapon and expect to hit something. They couldent track her while she was on the move, but she'd been in Helgen for 3 days, mainly to ward off any potenial lodgers. The Wizards of winterhold had decided to keep the captured Elder Scroll safe at the College. But a good number of them had arrived here yesterday, and Brendela hoped more people would be coming.

She walked back into the barracks, one of the few buildings that were still intact. As she walked through the sleeping area, Brendela recieved a few glances from some of the college members. Drevis the illusion expert glanced at her and gave a toothy grin as she walked over to the doorway. A few others, an elderly man, a few Altmer and a khajit gave her a quick nod as she walked past them all and over to the dungeon enterance.
As she desended down the staircase she bumped into Brelyna Maryon, a young dunmer mage who was crying. From what she had heard from Savos, her 'friend' named Onmund had been killed by vampires a few weeks earlier. She had gone searching winterhold for days on end, trying to find his remains, but the vampires must have dragged the body off to use as blood cattle. She had always been a quiet girl, but now it seemed like she had a vow of silence going on. Brendela had took pity on her the moment she had heard brelyna's story; she knew what it was like to lose a loved one.

Pulling the girl into a quick hug without any words, for silence was best in these situations, she noticed how cold the girl felt and gently pulled her down the stairs and towards a small fire. letting the girl warm up she walked over to a figure in the corner of the room, who was observing a smaller man trapped in a cage. The imprisoned man was a vampire in 'captivity, but he was unconscoius right now after a torture session.

'Dont you think your being a bit rough on him? he's spent more time counting sheep than talking'. The man, masked by his fur and wool robes, took a while to answer.
'Undoubtably he has done the same to others, mercenary. Vampires are not known for being merciful. Besides, he wears rather unique attire, i suspect he may be part of the Volkihar council.' Savos Aren now turned to face her, his dark red eyes gazing at her with mild interest. 'You must not tell anyone, but i fear that my college has been infiltrated. One of the vampires may even be walking among us in this structure. New, secure blood may be what we need for this uprising. You are sure they are coming?'

Brendela did not even stop to think about it. 'yes' was all she said, all she could say, all she needed to say.

Ralyx walked through the dark and cold environment Skyrim had gotten after the sun was blocked. His hood covered his face, and he tried to avoid the common roads in order to keep away from the vampires and the ones supporting them. The red cloak hanging behind him dragged across the light snow on the ground making the walk even hareder.

In the faint distance he could see a few torches from the ruin of the city once called Helgen. Finally I’m close… He whispered to himself and got a confident smile. As he got closer he could hear people chatting about the vampires from inside the ruins. He stopped just outside the entrance and turned around to make sure no one had followed him. His red eyes scanned over the lightly forested area. Nothing. He turned back and walked through the gates.

Inside the walls there were a few men and women walking around, probably guarding the rest from dangers. He could feel everyone stare at him, and knew that the hood made him look suspicious. One of the men walked up to him. “Stop right there!” His voice was shivering. Ralyx stopped and lifted his arms to remove the hood. The metal claws on his right hand shone from the reflection of the man’s torch. He dragged the hood backward and his long black and red hair fell heavily on his shoulders.

“Is there a problem, my kind sir?” Ralyx said in a mockingly tone and looked straight at the man with his red eyes. The man took a small step backwards. Ralyx laughed calmly. “Relax. I’m not one of them. If I’d want to kill you, you’d be dead already. Now, show me to the one who is leading this uprising, thank you.” Ralyx’ tone was calm and kind, but he had a grin on his face that told the man that he wasn’t one to joke with.

Leo was looking at the sky as he was walking toward Skyrim. It had been forever since he was last here, and he wanted to visit an old friend at Helgen.

Leo: The sky was never this dark before. Wouldn't you agree?

He turned around and slashed at a mysterious man who was following him. His swords slice threw his flesh, and he fell down dead. He walked over and inspected the body.

Leo:*Inner thoughts* Vampire, well now, that is something you don't see everyday. Maybe at Helgen I can finally get some answers on what has been going on.

He continued onward until he saw his destination, or what was left of it. He walked past some ruble and the remains of one of the towers.

Leo:*Inner thought* Hmm, this is a good amount of dust, oh, how the mighty have fallen. Might as well go inside, at least for a comfortable place to rest.

Leo walked to the main entrance and saw some guards, who immediately pointed their weapons at him.

Leo: Ah, the welcoming comity, I feel so honored. Do I get a free meal? But first, can you do me a favor. Take me to your leader.

"Helgen, destroyed by a dragon not more than 4 maybe 3 years ago but that was before the vampires blackened the sky turning day into night, an endless dark abyss from which demons such as these vampires thrive in. Maybe there is hope for us with rumors of an uprising against our flawless new leaders; the rumors have seemed to have lead me to Helgen, where stories of the near death of Ulfric and the Dovahkin's adventure originated from."

Che'anni stopped at a snowy pass and looked ahead of her, Helgen in all its glory, thought to have been abandoned since it was lost from the Imperials. Slipping quickly in the nearby foliage, Che'anni started to take note of all the entrances and exits if it came to that, "The place is lit up with torches, guards patrol the crumbling walls and maybe one or two sentries. Maybe there is an uprising after all."

Che'anni slipped out of her hiding place as quickly as she had hid in it and started walking towards the main gate, which currently housed a battalion of guards pointing their weapons at an odd imperial, Che'anni put on a smile and then waved, "Oh boys, stop playing with your toys and show me where this uprising leader is."
One of the guards looked towards Che'anni and replied sternly, "Alright boys, put the weapons down and one of you please escort this lady to the boss,"
"Right Away Sir" another guard spoke out before motioning for her to follow.
Che'anni looked back towards a stunned Imperial and said, "Che'anni, nice to meet you," before walking with the guard to what looked like the barracks.

Varian saw Helgen on the horizon, well what could be considered the horizon anyway. He recieved a message from a private informant about a possibility. One filled with gold, saviors, and the death of the vampires. At any rate, Varian's dark skin was soon illuminated by the light of a guard's torch. The guard drew his weapon and said, "Halt! Who are you and why are you here?"

That was, sadly, when the guard's light showed Varian's eyes. Varian's eyes were green but had a red tint and glow. The guard saw this and assumed that Varian was a vampire. The guard, "We have a vampire here lads! Get him!" Varian was half Dunmer and was used to people mistaking him as a vampire, or in rare cases, as a full blooded Dunmer. Now, in this land of turmoil, his eyes could be death of him.

Varian didn't want to draw bloodshed but at the same time, he liked to have fun. He reached down and collected his sword, Cortex, from its sheath. The sword glowed with the guard's torch, its edges were diamond, and its body was that of steel. The guard swiped at Varian, a bad move in his case. Varian readied a destruction spell and blasted the guard's sword out of his hand. This took less than a second, the guard was obviously not used to fighting spell swords. A common mistake in any fighter's training is to ignore the magickal arts. Varian saw the guard run, but more seemed to come from everywhere. Probably shouldn't of showed off. Varian sighed, but before any more fighting could arise a mage came from the gates.

"Guards! What do you think you're doing! I contacted Varian myself, if you try to kill him you try to kill me," The mage brought up two hands full of fire, and the guards calmed down. This mage was obviously powerful and demanded respect. As the guards, normally argumentative, didn't argue or question the mage's leadership. Speaking of which, he was wearing a hood, Varian couldn't make out any characteristics other than the mage robes themselves. At any rate, they headed inside without further conflict. Varian was led to a group, one he recognized as Savos Aren, the other a Khajiit, one other Dunmer, and a Nord.

Varian introduced himself with a bow, "My name is Varian,"

Toldifr was finding it easier and easier to get to sleep these days, but tonight he just couldent. listening outside to see if there was any disturbance. Soon the noise was getting to be unbearable, and as a fellow mage and a weary imperial walked past he went outside and Gave them a small "welcome". Some of the guards, originating from Winterhold, turned to look at him; it was rare for Toldifr to get angry, never mind loud.

'Get in here you idiots, Magnus knows how many hostilities could have heard you!'

Egil slowly walked the road the led to Helgen's entrance. The once beautiful town, now reduced to rubble, was a painful sight. Debris lay all over the floor, and entire buildings were collapsed. The heavy rain did the town no good either. Thanks to the gray skies the town looked as bleak and miserable as ever.

Curse those dragons. I can't believe they're really coming back. Egil just stood there in the rain, mourning the fallen. Amir...Agnar..Hog...I never found out if they made it out ok... Tears welled up in his eyes. He just grunted. Crying wouldn't solve anything, and standing here wasn't going to do anything for him either. The only reason for the journey to Helgen was to see what he could learn of his father. Apparently General Tullius was supposed to be up here to help with the reconstruction efforts. Surely he'd know where his father was.

His own father, an imperial. Egil scoffed at the thought. How could he join the Imperials? What kind of Nord deserts their own race to help the enemy? The only reason for seeking his father was for reason. He left them before he was even born. He should have been there to take care of Egil. Instead he was to live with the town's blacksmith. Not a bad life, he had to admit, but all the same, his father should have been there.

It took him a moment to realize how long he'd been standing there, lost in thought. As he approached the gate the guard welcomed him with a warm smile.

"Hello Egil," said the guard. "Sorry we can't offer you a place stay."

They laughed at the grim humor. "Not a problem my friend. Now tell me, is General Tullius still here?"

The guard shook his head. "General Tullius? Why would he be here?"

Egil sighed."I heard rumors that he was coming to help clean up. Did I hear wrong?"

"I'm afraid so. With the sun gone and so many vampires around, they wouldn't risk the general leaving Solitude."

Egil looked away in embarrassment. How could he have believed such a rumor? It was much to dangerous to go traveling right now.

"You should head to the barracks. There are others there. Maybe they can help you with whatever you need."

"Ok. Thank you my friend." Egil patted the guard on the back in thanks and slowly made his way toward the barracks.

A shame he was mislead again. Now he'd have to face another long journey as he made his way to Solitude. Perhaps a companion could be found in the barracks. Traveling for such a long time would be much too dangerous to do alone. But would anyone be willing? It was such a long journey to make only because a mere stranger asked for help.

    Leo bowed at the man.

Leo: I thank you sir. I may sound ignorant soon but please bare with me. For you see, I am a traveler, so news does not reach me as fast. I was told that this whole predicament with the sun disappearing started here in Skyrim, so I came here to investigate. Now, granted, I would like to rest first, seeing as I had traveled for quite some time now. Oh, forgive me, I never even introduced myself. In some places, I am well known in Cyrodiil, I am Leo, the friendly sword.

"Che'anni, nice to meet you," The Imerial woman seemed to have appeared out of nowhere and ordered the guards to step back. Ralyx rolled his eyes as she walked past him. "Typical women. Always bossing around." He said to himself and smiled. He followed Che'anni with his eyes, looking at her silvergrey hair. Black is cooler. He thought to himself and started following her to the barracks.

Just as he had started walking, a man came rushing out from the building. He was obviously angry. 'Get in here you idiots, Magnus knows how many hostilities could have heard you!' He ordered the group outside. Ralyx raised his shoulders and looked at the people around him. "No need to be upset, old man." He said and gave the man a cocky smile. "And whatever is out there, would most likely have heard you shouting at us too. The name is Ralyx by the way. I asume you are the leader of this... army?" He streched out his left arm to greet the man. Then he turned over to the Imperal man who had just introdused himself as Leo. "The friendly sword, eh? What kind of a nickname is that?"

All the anger had left im in that one sentence, and now he was getting tired again. giving the cocky imperial a stern look and giving the others a hand gesture to come inside, Tolfdir walked back into the barracks and was asleep again within a few minutes.

    "My name is Varian,".
Brendela spun round, she had not noticed the imperial walk in. She had been about to go outside, as the guards on patrol seemed be causing a ruckus, but that would have to wait. This must be one of the people who had recieved the message, frankly she was just glad that somebody had turned up.
A mage, one she hadnt noticed on her way down here, seemed to have led Varian down here, and with a quick nod towards him she started to talk. Unfortunatly she was cut short by the sound of somebody shouting, and groaned to herself. Better await for the others to arrive, im too tired for more than one speech.

"Magnus knows how many hostilities could have heard you!"

Egil looked over to the barracks entrance. A man was yelling at a few people. Hmph. Yelling isn't going to keep us undercover either old man. Instead of heading straight to the barracks, Egil had decided to walk around the town a bit to see how much they've rebuilt so far. Not much had been done. Most of the rubble had been cleared from the main streets, and some of the houses were starting to be rebuilt, but that was about it. And in light of recent events all progress would probably come to a stop for quite a while.

Enough walking around. I should probably get inside. The old man probably didn't want him walking around the desolate town anyone. Might attract too much attention, with all the noise he was making. Egil laughed quietly.

As he entered the barracks everyone turned to look at him. Hmm...more people than I expected maybe I will find some help. He walked slowly over to a table, the sound of his wet armor rattling, and his Stalhrim boots clanking against the ground.

A few people seemed fascinated by his armor. Not many people in Skyrim would have ever seen it. The ore to make the armor could only be found in Morrowind. A few months back Egil had heard that a few imperial guards had traveled to Solstheim. Unfortunately his father wasn't there, but he got a fine set of armor out of the trip.

Even from this distance, Brynne could see the faint outlines of movement inside and around Helgen. Apparently he was not the only one who'd thought the new overlords might leave the leveled city alone. No doubt bandits or other unsavory characters had taken up residence here. 'And I'm different, how?' he thought to himself. The truth of the matter was that that he needed what was in there, and nothing was going to stand in his way.

He took a moment to adjust the sling that had served him on his arduous journey here, hissing softly at the pain that shot freshly from the injury. Pushing the pain from his mind, Brynne moved forward quietly, hoping to find a spot in the wall no one would notice him entering from. As he did so, that plan become more and more obviously flawed.

It seemed every entrance had guards, and some few patrols were also making their rounds through the area. On the bright side, bandits were rarely so organized. As he watched, he saw multiple people passing by the guards with only minor solicitation. The sight spurred a memory, and an idea.

Some years ago, there had been a great ball being held in Solitude to honor the high-king. Being simple innkeepers, his wife and he had of course not been invited to the event. But Saray hadn't cared much for that rule, so she'd fashioned them 'proper' clothes herself, and folded a few sheets of parchment to look like envelopes. They'd walked up to the entrance, flashed the papers, and just walked in. One intrepid guard had tried to stop them, which had only earned the man a quick 'Can't you read?' from his wife before pushing on. Smiling at him, she'd taken his hand and simply said 'People that take orders are always too worried about offending the people giving them to question them.'

It had been good advice. All he needed now was his 'false ticket'.

'Get in here you idiots, Magnus knows how many hostilities could have heard you!'

The shout was exactly what he needed. Brynne stood up, straightened his clothes out, and walked briskly towards the door. The guards, predictably, moved to intercept him, earning them his most contemptuous smile.

'What, do you want to be the one he yells at next?'

After a brief hesitation, both stepped aside and let him pass. Quickly he slipped behind the remnants of a burned out building, making his way further to the back of the village. After a few close calls, he found himself in what looked like the right place for the tavern. Finding the chest was easy enough, and just as he'd hoped there were a few spellbooks left behind as well as a few random miscellaneous texts. Just to be sure, he started stuffing them all in the bag he'd found at the bottom of the chest.

'Hey!' came the angry voice from behind him. Before Brynne could react, the guard already had a hand on his shoulder. 'No need to put your things away right now. Everyone's gathering in the barracks. You need to hurry and get over there.' The man had mistaken his actions for there opposite, which had taken him a little off guard. Before he could react further, though, the man continued. 'Don't worry, I'll walk you there.'

It seemed he had no choice now but to follow the man into a room filled with more guards. It seemed his plan was to be foiled already, unless he played his part now perfectly. With a calm motion, Brynne smiled casually at the armed man. 'Lead on.'

Amy thought the air was chilly--not something she had ever thought about Helgen before the sun had been swallowed. She had not been to Helgen in almost 10 years, and was not prepared for the sight before her. Granted, a lot of towns had seen better days since now, but when they said the dragon had destroyed the place, the weren't kidding. She entered the keep without looking around too much, and was surprised at the number of people that were there. "Excuse me, could someone direct me to where everyone is meeting?" Amy said loudly as she shut the door behind her. The guards at the entrance seemed a bit confused by her casual response, but led her towards where everyone was meeting. Amy felt a bit uncomfortable, since she had not been around so many people in so long. She sat down as she waited for someone to start speaking.

The man told Leo to go down to the torture room. He nodded and proceeded to his next destination. He walked by the all of different men and women, torn by what is happening. He felt sick, not being able to help. He approached the room he was told to go to, and he saw several people there.

Leo: My, I didn't know this was a special gathering. Oh, I did not prepare for this. My armor is unpolished, and my swords are all bloodied. Well, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Leo, the friendly sword.

Ralyx shook his head as Leo seemed to ignore his coment and instead follow the others to the torture room. Well, I'll better join in. He thought to himself and started walking after Leo. Ralyx gave of a small grin as Leo talked about how he was not prepared for a large meeting, and once again introduced himself as the friendly sword. Amongst the people in the room, he could spot the woman who had introduced herself to him outside. He walked slowly over to her, giving her a nod as he stopped beside her.

"Can you believe this guy." He whispered to her and raised his left eyebrow. "Vampires are taking over, and he is caring about his looks." He chuckled a little. "The name was Che'anni, right?" He added before he streched his arm in the air to get attention. "So, can I now get to know who is in charge here?"

Varian looked towards the newcomers and the members already with him. They were certainly an interesting bunch for sure. Varian, because he wanted to, gave an intricate bow that was perhaps out of place in a torture chamber. He introduced himself as he finished the bow, "I am Varian, people call me the... well they call me Varian," When he finished introducing himself he looked towards his new companions and said, "What are we doing now, I don't like sitting around twiddling my thumbs you know?"

As Brynne followed the guard through the town and to the barracks, he felt a strange sort of calm settle over himself. He had more spells than he'd originally hoped for, and even if they were found there was nothing to suggest they'd been stolen. All he needed to do was slip away at the first chance and he'd be well on his way to getting that which he wanted most.

Once inside the barracks, he felt more confident in the idea. The place was massive, and the damage it had suffered all those years ago left little doubt that there would be a way for him to escape. But as his escort continued forward, he felt his heart plummet. Rather than a meeting room, Bynne found himself in the buildings torture room.

There was a momentary panic, yet the guard simply turned to him, nodded, and with a curt 'there you are' made his way off. The room was filled with people in various states of armor and battle-readiness, but no one looked like they were ready to put him on the rack for his crimes. Though it looked as though they were about to begin something too important for him to sneak away from unnoticed.

"I am Varian, people call me the... well they call me Varian,"
As the man continued his introduction, Brelyna gave Savos & Brendela a short hand gesture to up the stairs, indicating that she was going to bed. As she walked up to the barracks, Brendela heard more footsteps coming down the stairs. As she watched from her position in the corner of the room, just in front of the bar, numerous Nords & Imperials made their way into the room, some walking in casually and asking questions, others remaining quiet and shuffling into the corners of the dank room. Some even appeared to be having conversations with each other; it was good to know that they were all getting along, they would need morale if they were going to get through this all.

And yet Brendela was a bit panicky. She hardly knew these people, and some had rather vampiric traits; red eyes, dark red clothing, long, concealing hoods. She hadnt thought that the vampires would have risked infiltrating the college. one misplaced fireball and that would be over. But she wasnt going to risk it. She turned to Savos.
He already knew what the mercenary was going to ask. he'd noticed the strangness of some of the people in the crowd.

As the remaining guards left the room to return to patroling, Savos began his detect life spell. As the wave of energy passed through the crowd, he saw no blank signatures. there was a small ball of energy in a mans backpack, and a girl in ebony covered armour seemed to have a wave of grey emanating from her, but if she had been a vampire then nothing at all would have shown up. Qucikly disinguishing his spell, Savos turned to his companion.
'they are all human, they can be trusted'.
He said this quietly to avoid being overheard, and with a quick nod Brendela decided to clean her throat loudly. Any conversations that remained in the room were quickly extinguished, and Brendela started her speech.

'Welcome everybody. Some of you know why your here, others may be a little confused about what's going on.'
She gave a hand gesture upwards, as if to gesture towards the sky.
'As im sure you've all noticed, the sun has been missing for several months now. We do not know how, but the Volkihar vampire clan are somehow connected. They have extinguished the sun to enhance their own power so that they could conquer Skyrim. Many uprisings have been put into effect before us, but they have all been quelled. while they have the advantage of permeanent darkness, We suspect that it may be the work of Aedric magic, and while we cannot fight against them in brute power, we plan to use some artifacts of our own.'
Savos then spoke up, as they had planned.
'The college of Winterhold managed to get there hands on an Elder scroll a few weeks ago, the dragonborn delivered it to us from the underground dwarven capital of Blackreach. We now have it secure in the college as i speak, and we have patrols guarding it all day, every day. To those of you not aquainted to Elder scrolls and there purpose, they are Scrolls created by the gods and are used as a collection of time, and though we know very little about them, we suspect that with their time-related powers we could reverse the banishment of the sun.'
Some of the audience looked up at this, but Brendela carried on, knowing that if they paused now they may never get it going again.
'There is one small problem. When trying to use the scroll the mages found out that it wasnt enough. A time event as large as this cannot be canceled with a single scroll. After doing some calculations, we approximately need 3 scrolls to reverse the effects.'
'The trouble is locating these scrolls. We know the Volkihars have one of them in their castle, and after a few ahh... summonings we have tracked down one of the scrolls to Oblivion, specifically Molag Bal's realm of Coldharbour.'
Both of them let that sink in. Anybody who knew even a droplet about Coldharbour, and its overlord for that matter, knew what a terrible place it was. But if they were going to stop the Vampires from "sucking them all dry" then sacrifices, of morale or even sanity, must be made. Brendela felt a bit awkward being part of the leadership, but she finished the conversation on a lighter note.
    'Any questions?'

Leo listened carefully to what the 2 had to say. He figured that this resistance was not going as well as they hoped. He stepped up and took a bow.

Leo: Well, given the circumstances, it seems you can't really spare too much men. That, and this is only the second one out of five. Quite the predicament Tamriel is in. I am sorry I intruded. I was coming here to see an old friend. I did not intend to stay long, but now, I guess. . . I guess that hasn't changed to much.

He fines a chair and sits down.

Leo: If you don't mine, I would like to go on this expedition into Oblivion, though to be fair, this isn't a request. As someone who isn't one of yours, my will is of my own, and you get an extra man without loosing one of your own. You could keep me under surveillance, but the only thing you can do to protect me from going in there is killing me.

He got up, and walked over to the man.

Leo: So, when do I leave, and how do I get in Oblivion?
