AN: Ok guys, like I said I'm going to try to make up for my extremely short chapter from last night. Let's see if I can make it up, although, this particular story is going to be coming to a close, well..soon. Don't worry, there will be sequels and such.

    Chapter 10: Bound by Blood

The rain soaked into his pelt as he made a bee-line for the inn. Water ran off his nose and ears in rivulets, and most of his clothing was saturated enough to become heavy with water. Entering the inn, he drew curious glances from the few patrons that had been stranded inside when the storm started. "Your dark elf friend already arrived" Keerava, the female Argonian informed him.

Nodding his thanks ,he headed up the stairs, and knocked on the door to their room. "Come in, Madrar" surprised that she knew it was him, but knowing he shouldn't be, he opened the door . Varia had her back to him, although, with a vampires superb hearing, she probably knew he was in the room with her. She turned slowly, a sly grin on her face. "I sent the report ages ago" she told him, slowly coming closer, her grin never leaving her lips. Madrar, was at the point where he was cautiously optimistic, he had no idea what had brought on her new attitude, and thus, the caution.

"Don't think I haven't noticed the looks you've been giving me, my Khajiit friend" she said, coming yet closer. "Not that I mind, I like a man that can look but doesn't act on impulse" Now they stood inches apart. Madrar stared down at her, inviting, eager even "you know how I feel about you, then, how- how I fear ruining our friendship" He was going to continue, when she silenced him with a kiss, passionate and tender at the same time, which sent his fears flying from his mind.Almost. However, he was wise enough to know when to surrender to the moment.

Their clothing was on the floor in short order, and they were on a bed in shorter. Afterwards, they lay beside one another, contented smiles on their faces. Madrar noticed a pair of fresh bites on her left shoulder. Brushing his paw over one lightly, he asked in surprise "I did that?" Varia turned to face him and smiled. "Yes, but don't feel too badly. I gave you one to match " she said, pointing to his right shoulder, where, sure enough a pair of bite marks trickled blood. "Bound by blood, huh?" grinned Madrar. Varia laughed and rolled to her feet, patting his stomach as she did so, "yes, and other things"

    To Be Continued.

Sorry if this was sub par, but I wanted to kick off the relationship on a more...physical level. I kind of struggled with it, but I think it was worth it. Maybe. A littl.

    Chapter Eleven: End

The days in Riften passed slowly as winter settled in. Both Madrar and Varia continued to blend with the populace, running errands, and helping the people. By night, they fed on them, never killing more than once or twice a week to avoid suspicion. Eventually, the pair of vampires raised enough coin between them to purchase a small house, near the water.

Life, or rather death, was good. The short days and long nights in Skyrim suited the two vampires well. Madrar was content, although cautious he had an uneasy feeling that their comfortable life was about to change. When he told his lover, Varia, of his concern, she'd nodded solemnly "keep your eyes open, and...be ready for anything" . The way she said it, her words heavy with worry, did little to put his mind at ease.

A few days later, Madrar was carrying an armload of firewood when he heard a pair of towns people talking. "Yes, vampire hunters is what I heard" one red haired woman was saying to a black haired, older woman. "Madrar slowed his pace considerably, pricking his ears up to hear better. "The Empire's given them free reign of all Imperial held holds, and I heard they're negotiating with Jarl Ulfric as well..." Madrar went on his way, quickly, having heard more than enough.

The Jarl of Riften was no fan of the Stormcloaks ,but if bothe Ulfric and Tullius agreed, Riften would be hosting the hunters soon enough. 'Too soon' the Khajiit vampire thought as he made his way through the city. It was bitterly cold, with the wind blowing off of the water, but their was little to no snow in this part of Skyrim.

After delivering his load of wood, Madrar hurried to their dwelling. Varia opened the door as he approached, and gestured for him to hurry. As soon as his tail cleared the doorway, she slammed the door shut and turned to him. "You heard?" he asked, and by the clear worry in her eyes, he knew she had.
"The whole town knows by now, with those gossips going about spreading the word" Varia spat bitterly.
Madrar couldn't help but agree. Although Riften wasn't the nicest place to live, they'd both grown attached to it.

"We could go back to the coven" he suggested, knowing the answer. Varia was already shaking her head. "Salthar's probably got problems of his own to deal with right now, and what about the others?" By others, she meant the few people that they'd turned during their stay in Riften. Only a few, but still, a few vampires is worth ten times that many humans. Madrar sighed, "I know, I know, look, we'll get through this, though trust me" he says, pulling her in for a quick kiss. Sighing, she leaned into his chest, and he wrapped his arms around her, taking a measure of comfort in each others presence.

Soon, too soon, the moment ends. Varia breaks the embrace and turns away, heading for the bedroom. "If we're forced to flee, I want to be ready" she calls over her shoulder, and begins packing clothing, weaponry and pieces of armour away. Nodding at her preparatory skills, he turns to the window, staring into the dark night and wondering whether they truly will be able to weather the coming storm.
