DrunkenMage

Intoxicated Arch-Mage
My hours tell me, I need a life

My hours waited are in the thousands.

My playtime hours, I've deleted my old saves since my game was freezing due to too many saves, so since November when I got skyrim. Probably several hours of gameplay a day, so maybe a plops load of hours playing.

Shinji - male High Elf Battlemage - level 61.
Alignment - Good, but can be evil if needed (for the sake of completing all quests).
Specialises in one handed (sword + shield), heavy armour, block, restoration, destruction, smithing, alchemy, enchanting, the voice.
No follower (had Lydia, Frost trolls killed her early on).
Total playtime so far - 199 hours.
Special notes - My main character in oblivion was Shinji, the high elf battlemage, this is his son. Being my main character I've now started levelling his "minor" skills such as light armour and two handed to further raise his level. He's also the only character who's a werewolf.

Bolag Gro-bumfun - male Orc Warrior - level 30.
Alignment - Evil. Bolag and Lydia will show Skyrim what it means to have fear.
Specialises in two handed (battle axe), heavy armour, smithing, alchemy.
Lydia in matching heavy armour, currently Orcish.
Total playtime so far - 27 hours.
Special notes - Every single time I level up with Bolag his points go onto his health, every time. The aim is to be able to enter any fight and start swinging his battle axe until everyone is dead.

Vienne Luciana - female Breton pacifist (no kills, not even butterflies) - level 12.
Alignment - Good
Specialises in illusion, alteration, restoration, sneak.
No follower as their kills count as Vienne's.
Total playtime so far - 10 hours.
Special notes - Doing a no kills play though is fun in its own way but prevents you from completing many quests.

Drevalen - male Dark Elf Rogue - level 29.
Alignment - Evil
Specialises in one handed (dual daggers), sneak, light armour, pickpocket, conjuration, archery.
No followers.
Total playtime so far - 40 hours.
Special notes - My only character that's been able to successfully sneak up to a dragon and bitch slap it.

Xivali - female High Elf Mage - level 40.
Alignment - Good.
Specialises in alchemy, illusion, conjuration, destruction, restoration, alteration, enchanting, archery, speech.
Various followers, Lydia died, now using J'zargo.
Total playtime so far - 100 hours.
Special notes - A favourite of mine, not reloading if/when followers die. Always tries to maintain distance between herself and targets. She uses archery when her magicka pool runs dry, or for sneak attacks.

Dovahkiin - male Nord Dragonborn - level 15.
Alignment - Good.
Specialises in one handed (dual swords), heavy armour, archery, the voice.
Had Lydia, she decided it would be fun to attack an angry giant.
Total playtime so far - 20 hours.
Special notes - Dovahkiin is learning ALL the words of power before doing any quests (apart from required quests to get Arngier to give the location of words of power). Also Dovahkiin NEVER fast travels. Walking up the 7000 steps each time to get a new word wall location.

DECEASED CHARACTERS

Ra Vaar - female Argonian Vampire Thief Mage Thing - level 27.
Alignment - Evil.
Specialised in - sneak, conjuration, pickpocket, one handed (dual bound swords), illusion, alchemy, destruction, restoration.
No followers.
Total playtime at time of death - 30 hours.
Special notes - Accidentally overwrote the save file, and I'm usually so careful! She was able to kill anyone, anywhere, and anywhen because she could sneak (invisibly) up to a victim, charge the invisibility spell, then strike the doomed foe and release the spell almost in sync then simply sneak away. She had the assassins blade perk coupled with the shrouded gloves to deal a whopping x30 sneak attack with her ebony dagger, enough to kill anyone who can be killed. She will be missed.
Side note - Drevalen was created as a replacement for Ra Vaar.

Schmorgen Jorgen - Old Nord warrior, Master Difficulty.
Alignment - Good.
Specialised in - heavy armour, one handed (sword and shield), getting killed in fewer than 4 hits.
Faendal was hanging around for free archery training.
Total playtime at wtime of death - 8 hours
Special notes - I thought I'd try playing on master difficulty. I died, a lot. So much so that by the time I got to the invincible snowy saber cat while climbing the 7000 steps for the first time I realised that I really wasn't having fun, deleted.

Let's add up the total playtime shall we?

434 hours. It would have been more but I spent the first 5 weeks since release playing nothing but skyrim, I burned myself out so took a break and didn't feel the hunger again for a couple of months, now I'm back into it, maybe even more than before!

On PS3 and Xbox versions it tells you how long when you save the game, or when you look at a saved game file, not sure about the PC version.

Yea I am lucky, I lucky to be alive, I am lucky that I can still walk, I am lucky that I have full function of my brain....

I know it's hard for some people to accept that a person would game so intensely, especially as they don't really know circumstances surrounding the person.

A little history about me first to make it a little easier for you to comprehend......lol

On the 1st of June 1980, at the age of 16, I had a horiffic farm tractor accident & was told I would never walk again. Now as anyone who has had kids know, when you tell a kid that they can't do something they will do the opposite & that's what I did. I defied the odds & within 2 yrs was playing Soccer & Surfing on the Amateur Circuit.

Late in 1998 I contracted Meningococcal Septicaemia & slipped into a 3 week coma & as a result I had a 5% chance of regaining consciousness & the Doctors had called my Family ( My 1st wife & my 2 little kids ) as well as my parents. Later that day I passed away, I was clinically dead for over 4 min & I knocked on Death's Door, but he wouldn't answer it..lol. Once again I defied the odds & recovered fully.

Then in May 2000, at the age of 36, I turned around suddenly & tore 3 discs in my Lumbar Spine ( L2, L3 & L5 ). I was told by the Specialists that I my discs were degenerating & I would be wheelchair bound by the time I turned 40.

In October 2006 I had a stroke that left me with 50% use of my left arm & I am left handed, so that just made things a little more difficult.

I am now 48 & I am still walking & to deal with the pain I game intensely. Because the pain is in your mind, sure the body may hurt in another area but it's your mind that it is telling what hurts & by gaming I can ignore the pain, I can block out the majority of pain but not all of it.

So now you know why I game so intensely.........

Now I don't want anybody's sympathy save that for someone else because I sure as hell don't need it...

Man that's some unfortunate circumstances indeed. But don't you get bored of playing just one game all the time? Don't get me wrong, I know as well as anyone that skyrim is the best game ever made but I can only play so much before I feel the need to play something else like Gears or Street Fighter.

To check total hours played on the PC you just need to open up Steam and go to your, er, library, I'm pretty sure. One of the main tabs anyway. It says right there. (There might be a way to check via save game files, but I don't know.)
