What you can and cannot do in video games is very important to the core of the game itself. This goes double for games that try and have as much as possible in them. For the upcoming Fallout 4, a lot of care and detail was put into the crafting system, which will allow you to make pretty much any weapon you can think of, and reconfigure armor to your specifications. Also, you can craft and fix up buildings and villages to your desires. You'd think that this would mean it'd be mandatory for certain things in the game to happen right, but apparently that's not the case according to Bethesda Softworks.

"It’s a completely optional, freeform thing that you can do, if that’s what you want to do," Bethesda's Pete Hines said to GamesRadar, of Fallout 4's crafting system. "If you don’t care about that and you just want to play quests and play side quests, and finish the main quest and that sort of thing then you can just ignore all of this [crafting]. Or do as much or as little as you want."

That's a lot of freedom when you think about it. But Hines also notes that while it may not be mandatory, it does help in certain situations if you craft certain things. He added, "There is a benefit to it, but again it doesn’t prevent you from playing through the game".

It's refreshing to see such flexibility in a game of this magnitude. How will you roll in Fallout 4? Will you craft to you can't no more? Or will you roll with the punches without it?

Fallout 4 releases on November 10th, 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.

What would really be cool is if you could build your own custom vehicles, or customize existing vehicles. But as it stands, I'll be a crafting fool.
