Since the day I got the box set, I'll see the assassin coming my way. After I kill him I see the black sacrament note from astrid. Rarely I'll get this. Now I got it twice on top of destroying the members of the thieves guild, and he's a khajiit! This time im using my assassin character! I am guessing wow she really wants me now!! Does this ever happened to you guys?

When this happens I don't ever really get someone from the brotherhood just hired thugs. I read the note see who wants me dead, then I show up at there house. One time this dude before he tragically died in a horrible dragon attack told me "What?! Your still alive?" Then I walked closer and he said "Wait no hard feelings right?"
His death and a letter of inheritance came as a happy surprise as I really didn't kill him, because I had never heard anyone say that before. I normally kill them on sight and not care what about the bounty.

It weirded me out. Because I always go see them if they send thugs after me and that had never happened before.

Astrid is a c#nt. I've been wandering around Skyrim for months and rumors about the little boy in Windhelm performing the black sacrament have spread as far as Riverwood and probably all the way to Markarth, and yet she keeps sending assassins after me. You can bet the moment I kill who ever's bothering that little boy, Astrid is gonna have a go at me for stealing one of her kills. Your assassins had had more than enough time to do it themselves, bitch.

The hired thugs encounter is supposed to be triggered by your character wronging an NPC in some way. So for example if you steal something from someone, assault or murder someone (or someone they are close to), or tresspass in their homes, there's a chance they will send hired thugs after you to teach you a lesson/completely straight-up murder you to death.

I used the words 'supposed to' there very deliberately, though, because some NPCs are notoriously touchy and will seemingly send hired thugs after you to murder you to death for utterly trivial offences. Belethor once sent hired thugs after me for no reason, for example. I'd never stolen from him, always traded fairly with him, never assaulted him or that weird, clingy assistant of his, and I'd even manipulated the fabric of time and space (read: reloaded a savegame) once to save him from death at the hands of vampires! I couldn't have been any nicer to him! I couldn't figure out what I might have done that deserved me being killed to death! So I was forced to look it up, and apparently he will send hired thugs after you for something as trivial as knocking a vase slightly as you walk past it in his shop. So while I like the mechanic Bethesda have employed here (actual consequences for being mean to people, at last!) I think they could have tweaked it a bit.

My absolute favourite 'hired thugs' encounter was when a Black-Briar Mercenary that I'd killed sent them after me. Because I'd killed him. Ghost vengeance is alive and well in Skyrim, it seems. But there are all sorts of examples of the mechanic going a bit haywire. Frickin' bandits will send hired thugs after you if you pickpocket them, even if you subsequently kill them! And I once had a Forsworn Briarheart send hired thugs after me because I'd pickpocketed his frickin' heart.

The Dark Brotherhood assassins, on the other hand, don't seem to have a trigger. They just come after you after a certain level until you either join up or murder them all in turn. I could be wrong on this, but all of my characters have universally faced Dark Brotherhood assassins at roughly the same time, no matter what they've done, so I don't think there's a particular trigger for this.

Almost every time I leave the house. As someone pointed out somewhere, it's no wonder that there are so few assassins left in Skyrim. I've killed them all! By the time I even get to talking to Cicero and getting his wagon fixed, I probably have 50 or so.

On the plus side, at least she's tenacious.

Talsgar the Wanderer sent hired thugs for me after I picked his pockets (I was at a low level and he had some decent sh!t on him) they came for me in Riverwood, and at one point during our fight Stump came bounding over to attack one of the thugs. Sadly the thug put him down with his orcish warhammer before I could finish them all off. I'm not sure why Stump joined in the fight while all the other townsfolk were keeping their distance, but just as the fighting started I did notice Frodnar crying out and running away, so maybe he took a hit in the crossfire and his loyal pooch came to punish them.

I had considered taking revenge for Stump next time I see Talsgar, but then it was my fault that Talsgar sent the thugs in the first place, and even though I'm playing a thief, I don't want a dog's death on conscience, so I reloaded.

One of the first times I played Skyrim, when I found Meeko's Shack (this was before I cared about reloading my saves) A dragon attacked as soon as I had read the dead mans note. Meeko died trying to protect his body. I cried, it was like 4am my mom got super mad at me until I told her the doggy died. Then I said "It's okay now mom, he's with his real owner now!" And bawled some more. His death just hit me in the FEELS too much.

The assassins and Hired Thugs never really bother me. I just deal with them and be on my way. Although a bunch of Hired thugs tried to attack me once right after me, Illireth and Whiterun's guards just killed that first dragon at the watchtower. Boy did they pick the wrong moment. I didn't have to lift a finger as the guards, hyped up on the adrenaline rush of just killing a dragon, slaughtered those hapless thugs in seconds.
