The Blooded Bosmer
Wolf’s Bane

Killian screamed in agony. It felt as if fire had erupted in every cell of his body. He could feel the bones in his body rearranging. His arms grew longer, his knees bent backwards, and a snout started to grow on his face. Coarse, black hair burst out of his pores all over his body. His spine elongated into a small tail. His ears grew. He wished that it would end. It seemed to last an eternity, but in reality, it took no more than a few seconds.

Power surged through him. He could hear much clearer. He released a guttural scream that slowly turned into a howl. Where the hearty Nord once stood was now replaced with a seven foot tall lycanthropic monstrosity. The beast planted his front feet onto the wet earth and burst into the rain.

The drops of water pelted him as he ran through the open field. Puddles erupted into showers as his large paws connected with them. Mud flew up into the air behind him as his powerful back legs propelled him through the air, faster than any horse could travel. Using only the senses a werewolf possessed, he caught a scent wafting on the night breeze.

His front legs stiffened, muscles straining to bring the three hundred pound beast to a halt. Deep ruts in the mud followed him as he slid to a stop. He raised his nose into the air, inhaling the sweet scent of the human. He breathed the scent in deeply as a trail began to form. The bimorphic beast followed the path as the synesthesia took over. His werewolf brain kicked into overdrive, and he began to perceive smells and odors as colors and sounds. Synesthesia let him track down people and animals better than the best tracker in the world; and he didn’t even have to try.

The trail was a dull green; sweat. He bound into the air, the ground sploshing with every heavy step. The trail curved to the left and he adjusted his heading accordingly. The scent pointed straight ahead and he knew he was close. He pushed his body harder, gaining speed as his claws dug deep into the earth.

He saw his prey; a small Imperial riding a white stallion. He ran even faster sensing the proximity of the man. He reached the beginning of the cobblestone road and jumped. His legs bent down and sprang up, the muscles straining to lift the beast as high in the air as possible.
He connected with the man; they both hurtled to the sodden ground as the horse screamed and fell. The wolf took control of the situation, jerking the man’s head to the side and biting deep into his flesh. The man spasmed and twisted as his neck was brought into the maw of the beast. The horse galloped away at full speed as the rain pelted the feeding monster.
