Why can't Lydia have a horse?

Is there any way to get Lydia a horse? She runs around, carrying my son Stanley's burdens, which apparently she's sworn to do, poor girl, and he doesn't seem to be able to get her to ride with him or buy her a horse. Is there a way to get her one on X-Box?

The feminist in me wishes she was a bit cleverer and had more initiative, but she needn't pay for her failings by having to walk everywhere, surely?

I don't think folowers have the right to have their own horses. But she eventuatily catch up with you, doesn't she?

Every follower has to travel by foot. Them the breaks. They do catch up at some point. The horses get pointless after awhile, and more trouble then they are worth. Only exception is Shadowmere.

Become Ethereal then sprint.. it's the only way to travel! (and it's faster)

Poor Lydia, she's so downtrodden. Although Stan is fiercely loyal to her over other potentially better followers.
