I have Stanvar so far... Liking him, loaded him up with full Dwarven Armor and a Dwarven Two-Handed...

Just met Banor... Another interesting fellow.

What do you think?

I like Brelyna Maryon from the College of Winterhold. As a fellow mage, she actually works out quite well for me, and can summon frost atronachs. I'm enjoying her.

hate to ruin the whole contest here, but there is no "best follower". All followers stay the same level as you, throughout the game, meaning: if you get Lydia at level 3 she will stay level 3 for the rest of the game, no matter if you dismiss her or not. So the best follower you be a follower you attain at the highest level. But in terms of best to have around? Cicero, all the way. he is hilarious.

Vorstag the hireling found in the Sllver Blood Inn. Granted, I didn't step foot into Markarth until I hit level 35, but he's fantastic and I married him so I can sell him things as we go cave hopping.

Right now I have him in blades armor with the blades shied and a epic ebony war axe and an epic ebony bow with daedric arrows. I think I like him so much because he's equally good melee and ranged and he doesn't seem to get in my way as much as other followers I've had.

For my sneak character I'm a fan of the Dark Brotherhood Initiate.

ok I have now read three completely different things about this. I've read they level with you if they are with you, I've read they level with you no matter if they are following you are not, and I've read that they remain the level they are when you first have them follow but can still be fine with upgraded gear.

I don't get it and wish I could find a defined answer.

I've read the same thing. From what I've read, it seems the Dark Brotherhood initiate and J'zargo are the only ones that definitely level with you. However, the patch was suppose to fix this so it might be changed.

My favorite is Kharjo (lvl 30) and J'zargo (he can level all the way to 81 and he is the only character that he can level so high)

I don't like Cicero... but he he can level to 50

Edit: actually it's not that I don't like him... I hate that guy!

It's just random spam. Delete it.

I never knew about followers leveling up. Why would they make it so only one of them can level to 81? Seems really wrong. Anyone think this is an errror on Bethseda's part?

God I hate Cicero

I don't like J'zargo; he's too arrogant and proud of himself. And I hate, nay loathe, the way he, and all other Khajits for that matter, refers to himself as "J'zargo this, J'zargo that". Say 'I' or 'me' for once!

Having just seen Puss in Boots, J'zargo is still my main man, like the way he will Spark enemy mages. I did quite like the Female from the Mages Guild, but some sort of glitch stopped her casting magic, so I married her.

Lydia is ok, she a tough fighter. j'Zargo is dead, he got blown of a mountain side, crumbled to his death, horrible night on skyrim, but I been going with the hireling Marcurio is pretty bad azz for me. Im a Paladin and he gives me great dungeon cover from the back with his Magic. Im wanting to try Belrand

I seem to always take Uthgard, from Whiterun, as a follower. Probably one of the first I can get. LOL.
Since I'm Khajiit this round I finally dropped her and took up with Kharjo. Now the cats are on patrol :D

As for them leveling. I am pretty sure they do as you do. They even seem to take some of the same perks.
How do I know, well, I've been running as an archer heavy on the sneak and had just taken silent roll. Now, I've never seen myself actually do a roll, but I have watched Uthgard do a roll while in sneak mode. At first I was like, WTH, and then realized she started doing it right after I took the perk. LOL

Marcurio was a decent follower as long as he didn't jump in front of me when I was trying to take a bow shot. He seemed to do that a whole lot less than Lydia, at least. Aela was the best of the companion options. Farkas and Vilkas had that habit of jumping into the fray a bit too fast.

In the end, I decided to run companion-less for most of the game. It was just too distracting in combat.

I have found that all the followers are very fond of running into my bow shots or magic casts.
I still take them and use a little extra care with them around because they often times provide a dstraction and I can get in a good shot. A lot of the times they're handy to have as a backup too because they'll often do good at fighting too.
One of my LOL moments though is using my bow and taking out the npc that my follower is in mid swing and watching them completely whiff. LOL. Sometimes I can just feel them looknig at me and saying, that was my kill you stole.

**POSSIBLE SPOILERS**

When I reformed the Blades again... I picked Vorstag, Benor, and Stenvar to be my three Blades.

Currently rolling with Vorstag in Urfthand.

It's their way of talking... Kinda suits them.
