Oh well time to move on
I meant in modding discussions
Right. I gotcha. I will weigh in and say that I would be more excited to see Morrowind retrofitted. I don't have a lot of experience with either of those (I'm a converted CoD guy) but based on my limited experience and what I've read, Morrowind was much deeper as an actual RPG, so I would like to experience that and see what all the hub-bub is about.
Semantics for sure but illegality is probably not the best way to describe a mod which may or may not infringe upon Bethesda's copyright ownership of the TES games and TES related IP.
It just always makes me giggle a little when people use "illegal" in the context of copyright infringement as though some jackbooted agents are going to break down your door and hall you off to prison for using this mod.
Certainly Bethesda can make a claim that the mod infringes upon their copyright and proceed to take action against the developers or the host websites. Most likely this would be a cease and desist letter and / or a DMCA takedown notice to the website.
Beyond that, it is silly to believe an end user would get in any trouble for downloading and using this mod save for the inevitable bugs that are sure to plague such an overly ambitious project.
I personally doubt either of the projects will produce a polished version that allows for playing of complete older TES games within the Skyrim game engine, though they may produce game worlds that are graphically and stylistically similar to the originals.
Screw that you need oblivion and Morrowind on your PC to play them, Im looking forward to Beyond Skyrim
If this happens and it isn't a bug riddled mess, I'm buying a PC the next day. I've been watching that mod very closely.
It is being made by a large group of modders, Falskaar was made by 1 person and a group of voice actors and I have yet to see a bug from it, beyond skyrim is supposed to have all of Tamriel as a map making the Skyrim Game map 6 or 7 times larger than the vanilla Game and the good thing is they are using Concept art from ESO to design places that we have not seen and yes it will be different then Online but 1000 Years has passed a lot of Big landscape changing things can happen in 1000 Years like Massive Earthquakes, Volcanic Eruptions, ruins can be built some can be covered in dirt from landslides, some could be hidden below the surface and so on.
Ya. I have high hopes and everything I've read sounds really good. I've seen the kind of power an online community can wield in matters like this. I'm not only excited about the scope of the project, I also have a lot of faith in the community regarding the matters of bug squashing, upkeep and patches. Hopefully not blind faith.
It goes beyond that. The Elder Scrolls games use software licensed from other companies for the games, e.g. Havok physics engine for Oblivion and Havok physics coding for Skyrim. Licenses like that are generally very narrow in their scope and limited to use in a specified application (e.g. Oblivion for the former and Skyrim for the latter). Bethesda most likely doesn't even have the authority to grant licenses to do what the developers behind the projects are doing. It also has an obligation to its licensors to make good faith efforts to prevent violation of the licenses by its customers (it's a standard provision in most technology licenses). So there are actually two forms of copyright infringement going on, one against Bethesda's copyrights and others against its licensors.
Their pretty cheap. I went to a shop and saw Oblivion for £2 - £4
Slightly off-topic (sorry all) but I sure wish I could be a voice actor on stuff like this! I've been practicing my Khajiit and Argonian accents since the day Morrowind came out.
Then Go to the Dark Creations Website and sign up, The more people working on the mod the sooner it will be done
well there goes my bank account for a gaming computer just to play these master pieces
Seriosly if they add quests which I heard they will how long do you think it would take to finish the entire game, Everything from start to finish including dawnguard and dragonborn among other enhancement mods?
