You don't use any weapons in werewolf form other than your claws. Any weapons still showing visually while in werewolf form are simply a graphics glitch. Normal damage from claws caps at 80. You have 0 damage reduction while in werewolf form and extremely low health regeneration. On top of that, the health/stamina regain you get from feeding on your prey is limited to human prey, e.g. you can't feed on a cave bear or frost troll after you kill it.

I agree that overall it is a much weaker fighting form than your non-werewolf form at high levels. That being said, some people don't really know how to optimize fighting strategy as a werewolf.

The key to fighting as a werewolf is effective use of your power attack, which will double your damage and knockdown any enemy regardless of size with the exception of dragons. The knockdown gives you time to blitz your enemy with regular claw attacks while he/she/it is down without fear of getting attacked by him/her/it. As soon as the enemy gets up hit him/her/it with another power attack and repeat. I've taken down giants and mammoths this way at level 50 on Master difficulty setting, often with little or no damage.

Since the power attack is so central to a successful fighting strategy, a character build that has high stamina is going to be optimal for fighting in werewolf form. Since your means to regenerate health is basically non-existent without feeding, high health helps as well. Melee fighter builds will benefit most from fighting in werewolf form, while spellcaster builds are a poor fit for fighting as a werewolf.

What you can take from all this is that fighting in werewolf form, while possibly fun, is generally more challenging at higher levels and should be a strategic choice. Shifting into werewolf form in a Draugr infested dungeon is not going to play out well because you may have multiple opponents in closed quarters and no prey to feed upon to replenish health. Shifting to werewolf form in a dungeon populated by humans is more ideal, especially in situations where you will only be fighting one or two of them at time.

If you can live without rest bonuses, even if you can't adopt this fighting strategy effectively or often enough for your satisfaction, IMO the 100% resist disease is a good tradeoff. You should be aware that it does glitch occasionally. I leveled 25 times before it happened but I somehow managed to get Witbane.

i die everytime i turn into a werewolf. Maybe its because i suck at it? or i dont roar enough? idk but i do great against kids when i kill them

I have Beast Form for the disease resist alone. I originally picked it up to cure myself of Vampirism. It is nice to have at lower levels for quick escapes. Sure it could be stronger but then again I don't want to be tempted to have it on every character just to have a ridiculous way to level a town.

I agree with the scaled approach, makes sense and it gives me some nice ideas for mods haha

If you use sleep bonuses, then don't bother with it. Other than that, you might as well, granted it saves you a small bit of time going to a shrine to get rid of the disease... There really isn't a benefit to it (that can't immediately be replaced).

Beast form is indeed useful in the early stage of the game. I find that I use it less and less as the game progresses.

Beast form is useful for two things:
Disease resistance
&
You can run really fast. It's usefully to cover a lot of ground fast if.your against.useing fast travel.

Yes I agree with you. But other than those two things it's about it, at higher levles the best form is useless if you try to use it they will kick your ass unless your good at running around them and keep away from there blows and just run up to them and use alot of power attacks and run away thats your only chance survivable.

only reason i became a werewolf this time is to get rid of vampirism. i dont turn into a werewolf but the 100% disease resistance is awesome.

the 100% disease resistance is awesome.

It is however not 100% resistant. I have gotten a disease when I had beast form.

I have found that if you are Khajiit, the unarmed bonus of your claws does stack with the werewolf attacks. :D

Yeah, I don't remember which one it was, Rockjoint or BrainRot maybe, but I remember walking into town and a guard saying I didn't look well and then I go to the tavern and they said same thing. I checked and sure enoug I had a disease. So, popped a cure disease and kept one handy all the time.

thats still really weird though. now i have a dumb question for you. are you still a werewolf or did you cure yourself by mistake at that place for the quest?

I haven't cured myself yet. I probably will because I find that I haven't used the beast form hardly at all.

The only fun time I had with it was when I left my follower in my house in Whiterun and waited until after midnight and then went around behind my house, changed form where no one could see me and then ran up and split the two Alirk(sp?) that hang out on the bridge by the gate. Then dashed out the gate and ran off into the valley and waited until I changed back and no one was the wiser that it was me. LOL
