Using your sword

Can someone explain how to use your sword
ive picked up about four now but every time i go to use one
only hands come up
ive tried everything but nothing seems to work.

Tab > Weapons > click to equip, using the left or right mouse key depending on which hand you want the weapon in.

Hmm maybe a bad install/bad saved game? Try to start over, if that doesnt work id try reinstalling the game and if that doesnt work id start checking video drivers and forums for known issues with your video card etc. with Skyrim.
