Trouble getting Soul Tear

I am sorry if there is already a thread about this. I am having trouble Summoning Durnehviir to teach me Soul Tear. I shout it, and all it does is turn my character invisible for 5 seconds, and I can't shout for the 300 seconds, anyone know if there is a way to fix this? I have tried it on three different play throughs.

Are you still in the Soul Cairn or back in Skyrim?

You have to shout outside (not in a dungeon or building), on the ground. Try to find a decent sized, flat expanse of ground and shout on it.
