Last weekend during Pax Prime, Square-Enix dropped a boatload of Final Fantasy XV information so large, we can't contain it in one newspost.

Prince Noctis' friends and travelling buddies are named Ignis, Prompto, and Gladiolus. You'll get to know them through performing optional sidequests with them. You'll want to do them, seeing as the more time you spend with each of these characters, the stronger their attacks will be when they battle with you. The car is intended to be another character in the game, though it won't speak or anything -- it's just a car.

Square revealed several locations in the game we didn't know about previously: Altissia, a city of populated islands inspired by Venice; Hammerhead, a mechanic's station where you'll be able to service your car (which is called the Regalia); Caem, a port city where Noctis will be able to find boats to rent; and Lestallum, inspired by Cuba and built on top of a massive crater, whose meteor provides the city with its energy (you can really see the Cuban inspiration there).

One of the first infodumps for FFXV revealed the first female Cid in the series, the provocatively-dressed mechanic Cidney. Recent press releases have been calling this character Cindy, and I figured it was just a translation error and continued to call her "Cidney." However, it now appears Square has thrown out the Female Cid idea, because they strongly hinted there will be a second mechanic in the game, one that is male and "a character we've come to know throughout the Final Fantasy series." Unless he's talking about a giant Chocobo in a repairman's outfit, he must mean Cid.

What about this Luna girl -- are she and Noctis into one another in any way? Square confirmed that yes, they are. They also added that Luna is a character of "great inner strength," which probably means "damsel in distress."
