Yeah, I was escorting Camila (Produce Lady in Whiterun) back to Whiterun and there was an assassin waiting for me in the middle of the fields, killed him and continued to attack his corpse...then take his note.

Clearly he failed. Stupid dual wielding Dark Elf, first smashed his face with a Power Bash and then sliced him up with my Blades Sword. Lydia shot the killing arrow in his face...good riddance, im going to find them and kill them. And yeah, i feel important and actually wander if you can find the contractor somehow.

I have two assassins attack me so far. Also had group of 'hired thugs' attack me. There were three of them kitted out in steel armour, quite a test but they were defeated. Mainly because they did after I just ousted a Stormcloak Fort with my Imperial pals and they were more than willing to lend me a hand.

Yes you can. I have done the quests and before I started I was attacked. I think they attack if you do to many "good" deeds I think.

For an RP reason, obviously that assassin was not up to the job so they need somebody who is (you!)

Ya that freaked me out for a bit cuz I was just wondering and this Argonain came out of nowhere sneeking at me so I stopped to talk and he attacked me so i electrocuted his ass to death....

I was also attacked. The the murder contract the assassin was carrying said something about how "the poor fool made the mistake of crossing the Black-Briar family." Which I did, they sent some thugs after me and I've been killing their Mercenaries. I got jumped by the Dark Brotherhood Assassin while trying to complete the "Promises to Keep" quest.

I was walking down the road one day in Skyrim, when I see a man crouching in a bush by the side of the road. Naturally, I hide in the bush on the other side of the road. After a while, I realize he is not going to do anything, so I shoot him with my bow It hits him in the knee...
I loot his corpse and discover he was an assassin hired to kill me. I laughed to myself and continued on my way.

The only three characters (of 6) that have been attacked by assassins have killed the impies transporting a storm cloak. They all have done good deeds.

I recently discovered a room inside of a house of a well-known character where the Black Sacrament was obviously being preformed (won't spoil incase there's something more to it later down the road). Makes me wonder if they're the one who wanted me dead...

I cant say much in regards too this, my highest level character was master of the brotherhood before I had them after me, however most of my newer ones have had this issue, but yes, they were easy too kill.
