Hi, I am new to modding skyrim, so I use the Nexus Mod Manager to download my mods. For some reason when I download a set of mods (around 10-20 plugins) when I open Skyrim and try and leave a building, or save the application closes randomly without warning. As a test I tried to load an old save after deleting my mods and the game seems to have a lot of sound and graphical glitches. For example, the rivers and lakes flickering or hourses gittering up and down but no crashes or random application closes. I throught my save files where corrupted so I did what the technical guide said on steam and deleted and redownloaded the game.

Now I want to start modding skyrim again but I need some guidence on the technicalities of how modding works on skyrim, I did some reaserch and I found a software called LOOT, so I have that downloaded. It talked about "dirty plugins", which I did not really understand. Anyway from videos on youtube it said LOOT would help with not crashing skyrim.

I dont mind reading instructions, but the ones online seem to be quite vague and abstract. Reasons why you should do some instructions are not elaborated upon. For example, I was reading a site that told me to change where the file locations for skyrim and the mods, but it did'nt make any sence as the site said to change the locations to your C: drive which is where the default file location for Skyrim on steam is.

In conclusion, are their any other softwares I should download to help skyrim from not randomly closing? Or when downloading mods are there certain technical key words or acronyms in the instructions that I need to be aware of? Or is there something I should be aware of that I am missing becuase of naivety?

(Also this my first post on this Forum, I dont know weather this is a place I can ask for help for these sort of things, please tell me if there are better websites that can handle these sort of issues)

I recommend checking out Gopher's series of videos about modding Skyrim. He's really thorough, and I know I've found his tutorials (on various subjects) super useful. Here's the playlist: link

The guide is for the 2011 Skyrim, so if you're playing the Special Edition, it probably won't apply 100%.
