A better way to do this is to simply spam Courage on a player. It requires much less magika and you can use it on practically anyone.
You can level this while leveling sneak and 1-handed weapons all at the same time.
1. Get a companion
2. Go out somewhere near a stationary enemy NPC, far enough out of aggro range.
3. Get behind your companion.
4. Enter sneak mode so that you transition from visible->hidden.
5. Strike your companion, then stand up and transition from visible->hidden once more. You can do this about 4 times before your companion will leave you or fight you.
6. After the fourth strike, spam Courage on them until you are out of Magika.
7. Go to step 3 and repeat until you have reached your desired levels in illusion, single-handed weapons and sneak.
