Reverse Pickpocketing Guards and Townsfolk with Super Weapons?

Since I don't tend to play thieves it hadn't occurred to me til now, but can this be done? Imagine the short work a town would make of vampires and dragons if everyone had a powerfully enchanted weapon to utilize.

Never tried it- sounds interesting if it works. I think you need to take all their other weapons, though. And make sure your provided gear is the same type (i.e. One-Handed swords shouldn't go to someone whose primary is a Two-Handed Battle Ax).

I don't think the town folks will use those "reverse stolen" weapons, they will probably just inform the guard.
