I'm in two minds about this one.

On one hand we now have the tools to add constructive criticism in the form of a single icon, but if I mark a post as dumb then im likely to comment and follow it up as to why. Imo there isn't any reason for me not to give a valid reason as to why I would negitively mark a post as long as it helps the topic flow. An icon in itself only labels the post with your opinion but doesnt give a reason as to why without posting.

On the other hand, I believe that this is probably one of the best forums I have ever enjoyed with a truly excellent community. Although the tools could he abused I think it won't be a problem due to the overall quality member base.

I think it will be how the community use (or abuse) the new system will determine its overall usefulness.

We'll hope that most of us use this appropriately, of course, but there will always be those select few (as in any other forums) that won't quite follow it. We'll just have to wait and see.

I clicked winner to this reply so I can write it down that I totally agree with you! :D ;)
Which brings me to next issue which comes by having so many options of Liking system. Shortly... It's killing communication between members!

I like this system. It's not only cute but actually useful. And I've found that on these forums, there are far, far fewer trolls than in other sections of the Internet. Of course, in saying that aloud, I automatically invite them in. I'm crossing my fingers here!

The 'dumb' icon was default, I've renamed it to something a bit more professional. Hope it's okay.

There's obviously some mixed opinions here. As mentioned before, if you like the old like system you can just use the 'like' icon and nothing else. I really believe this is a great addition and it will also eliminate one liner posts. For example, say if someone posts a guide and someone finds it useful, it would be better to rate the post instead of make a reply and saying the post is useful. Sure, you can always rate the post and make a reply to justify why you think it's useful but yeah.

Same with the agree and disagree buttons. They're a clear and succinct indicator of what people think of a post and then if needed people can make a reply to justify why they agree or disagree.

My intention is purely to make everyone's stay on these forums more enjoyable, and I hope this was a decent choice. :)

Honestly, I feel that every post we both post on we disagree... well, I do like a good debate. Anyways, it is off topic because without meaning too you could change the topic from whether it's X or Y to the value of 9. That is what happened in the Daedric is NOT the best armor thread. We changed it from which is better, to which looks better, to heavy vs light- and Heavy vs Light is completely off-topic.

This new system also, to me, makes the threads and my Alerts much more cluttered. Now at the bottom of every post there is a jumble of silly little icons.

And in my Alerts is a hectic mess of who agreed here and who disagreed there. It's a mess. I'd prefer being able to switch off this feature.

The alerts are going to be thick for the first bit because people are retroactively using the feature. That is going to settle down considerably. People can still only rate your post one time so it will cause no more or less alerting than the 'like' feature already did.

But if you get a lot of people doing it at the same time, it can still make a mess of things. My Alert has already doubled in size. I'm sorry. But, as someone who put $10.00 towards the continued operation of this forum, I'd really like not having my feelings regarding this absurd feature so easily brushed aside by the Admin/Mod team.

My earlier post, Ren merely 'disagreed' with it, instead of actually addressing it, very unprofessional.

I hope you don't feel as though I've brushed your comment aside. My own alerts have blown up since this feature was implemented. As far as raw numbers though, the alerting will definitely subside because there are a finite amount of posts to rate, period. In this, I can only ask everyone for patience. People will perhaps be more apt to use the feature which will result in an increased use of "like" and its ilk. But there is still a hard limit of one "like" per post so someone can't just spam your alerts by using this.

I will read through the documentation again and see about the alerts, however. I remember it saying how it did link in seamlessly, but I do not recall if there is any way to tailor your personal receipt of alerts. I will post here when I find a definitive answer.

It does appear that you can go to your alert preferences and there is a checkbox that can be toggle to disallow alerts for likes. It should disallow for this new system but if you find that it does not work as it should, please let me know.

Personally, I don't like it. I feel that the old system was much more simple, and the like system in my opinion should be simple.

I agree with the Ladies on this one, the " Like " Button was sufficient, but this new system is just plain annoying. I for one will just be ignoring the whole thing.

Okay, now you should only receive one alert per post liked. So if 5 people like one of your posts you'll only get one alert.

There obviously are people who find this feature useful and those who don't find it useful (although the majority of people do find it useful as seen in the poll), so if you don't find it useful you can simply click the thumbs up icon to like their post and ignore the rest instead of ignoring the rating system altogether. (Referring to people such as JerseyTheJester)

Sorry Ren, I'm ignoring it altogether. Now I have to hunt for the LIKE icon in order to click it. When before it was just there. You might see this as not a big deal, but for me it is. And it's confusing that the LIKE icon is a thumbs up, when before it was a Green Arrow, which is now to Agree. It's just bells and whistles I feel the forum doesn't need. But, I won't argue against it anymore. As I said, I'll just ignore it.

LOL, thanks Ren. I'm sorry I'm such a complainer. But, I've run my fair share of forums, so I open my mouth a bit more.
