I haven't checked in the Nexus yet, but I'd really like to see a player house mod similar to the ones in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. It could be a house or a cave or maybe even a ship... oh that would be cool.

I'm thinking that there would be some of the following:
- a dozen dummies for your armor
- an armory with a wall of weapon racks to display your most favorite weapons and also a chest or three with labels for staves, swords, axes, daggers etc
- on just about every wall there'd be the display plaques for weapons and shields
- a library with large bookshelves to add all your precious books
- a kitchen with a table and cooking pot with an alcove with a bunch of little barrels head on with lables like, flowers, mushrooms, meats, etc.
- an alcove for an alchemy and enchanting table with a satchels on it for ingredients and gems (kind of like the mod for the Breezewood home)
- a bedroom with a bed that will allow you to become "rested", with a wardrobe cabinet, a safe (like Solitude home)
- a housecarl that would be a merchant
- maybe a room for the followers

I'm running out of ideas.

All of these things can be purchased from the steward...

- Dummies come with the Windhelm house and can display your armor.

- You can display your weapons on racks in most homes. They'll appear as red banners that look like axes heads.

- As said above.

- All houses have at least 2 large bookshelves.

- All houses have foods and alchemy ingredients.

- All houses have an alchemy room.

- All houses have beds...

- Merchant housecarls I haven't seen yet, you may be onto something.

- There's always at least 1 room that your follower occupies. You can identify it by how their bed is fur and yours is fine cloth.

True, but not for all the houses.

I don't know how many that one has but Breezewood has none, Markarth has one, Solitude and Riften have two. I'd like to see a whole room full of them. There's a lot of great looking armor that can be displayed :D

True, but there's a limited number and not all homes have them. If you've seen the mods for Fallout 3 and NV you'd know what I'm talking about. A whole wall that displays one of every type of weapon in the game. For this I'm thinking a wall of racks and plaques to display your favorite weapons.

Not true. Breezewood has two small bookshelves. One has two shelves that holds 18 book each and the other has two shelves that holds 11 books each. Marakarth has the best I've found so far with four bookshelves each with four shelves that hold 18 books each. Solitudes worse than Breezewood and I don't know about Windhelm yet.

All houses have foods and alchemy ingredients.
They've got some food and some ingredients true. I'm looking for a rack of barrels each with a label and then you can separate the food/ingredients better. Every place I've been to so far either has a satchel for ingredients (which you can put anything in) or a few barrels, cabinets or sacks.

- All houses have beds...
True. But not all houses have an enchanting table.

- There's always at least 1 room that your follower occupies. You can identify it by how their bed is fur and yours is fine cloth.
I've seen that and presumed it was for the housecarl not a follower. Since I haven't taken a housecarl with me as a follower since Lydia passed I have a housecarl wandering around in my other houses.

If you haven't seen the Underground Hideouts for Fallout 3 and NV, give them a look and you'll see where I'm going with this idea.

Well it wouldn't make sense if you set up shop in a cave or underground area. The closest I can think of anything close to this is the Dark Brotherhood after the original hideout gets destroyed. A mod that would increase the number of rooms and the amount of features in each room would make for a good one.

It wouldn't be taking over a known area as the respawns would muck things up. Nothing lik coming home to a den full of bandits or vampires or falmer. lol.

I liked the Underground Hideout mods for Fallout as it didn't increase the space for the homes that the player could buy but created a whole new place in the landscape somewhere. You could fast travel to it and everything. It was especially great in NV as you could bring all the ammo you collected and pop them into a draw so you didn't get weighted down. It even had a sorting mechanism to fill out shelves so it looked like a real armory. It was cool.

An even better mod would be if you cleared out a cave or stronghold, you could claim it with some item you gain from a special event. Adding up those claimed areas would give you your own little empire.

I don't know if anyone else is a power hungry recluse in Skyrim, but I'd like a house that's got overkill security and loads of characters to do my biding. This should be a mod for the best house ever:

  • The house should be surrounded by tall impenetrable walls, and have guard towers attached to them so my private archers can shoot attackers.
  • It should be ontop of a huge stone pillar, suspended with magic like the college of winterhold, and the only way to get to it is across a dangerous bridge with Iron gates at either end that always requires a key to unlock (and only I have the key).
  • It should have large private territory around the mansion, with a smelter, forge, alchemy tent, enchanters tent, a barn for my goats, a couple of cages for savage werewolves that only I can release and a mine with all the most precious ores. There should also be some mine slaves.
  • There should be some companions walking around my grounds from groups that I've joined. For me there would be Dark Brotherhood assassins, Thieves, and Werewolves outside.
  • There should be a private merchant with 50,000 gold who you can sell stolen goods to.
I agree with Gemini Sierra about the interior. Except there should also be a secret locked dungeon where you can store all your darkest and most secret items.
