Ok, A lot of people have a no fas travel "smell the roses" side character. But I decided to go all in all my characters are no fast travel and I have no regrets. SOOO. Your probably think Im some kind of crazy geek who has no life to do a play through with no fast travel but you wrong. Ive made 2 characters for no fast travel to add realism and make the game more fun and inviting. Ive made a nord warrior. Hes a cross between a barbarian and a knight. And a mage scholar. Ive played for a couple days with them and Ive really enjoyed it. The only thing I dont look forward to is going up and down the 7000 steps 3-4 times. lol. But It adds some aspects to the game Ive never discovered Lets go over them.

1 It adds an aspect of importance. Do I really want to give this ladys sister who lives in markarth this ring when Im in riften trying to save the world. Ill do it next time my travels take me to markarth. Or I just cant do it right now.

    2. An aspect of kinda Ill do it while Im here. Can you deliver this sword to my father in dragonsreach. Ohh sure Im headed up there right now. I better get to it before I leave. Also you start to do small local quests while you in town because you dont know when your going to leave.

3 It adds random encounters that make the game cooler. I saw bandits impersonating soldiers. I saw imperial soldiers scouting a fort. I even found these drunk guys telling me what a fine day it was. It was a blizzard in the winterhold wilderness... IT WASNT DAY. it was night.

4 It lets you explore and find things you never had before. I got ghostblade on my mage unknowingly when me and my good friend marcurio when into a ruin.

5 You start to treat followers as friends to keep you company. Like talkative followers like erik or mjiol or marcurio become welcomed to fill in some of the dull boring moments with dialog.

    6 Horses are more valuable.

7 I used to always wonder why are there roadside inns in the wilderness. I understand now its for people who dont fast travel.

8 Inns feel more welcoming. After a 3 day long trip of sleeping in bandit hay piles a bed and cold mead is welcomed.

9 Finally Its more rewarding you feel more like a hero... A quest is described as a long journey. When you fast travel you cut that out. When you complete quests with a long journey you feel more rewarded.

The reason Im able to do this is Im not impatient to finish. I love the adventures along the way. As long as I get fun adventures a long the way I dont care If I dont kill alduin for 3 weeks.

Any of yall do this kinda stuff.

I love not fast travelling. As you mentioned, it gives you more incentive to stick to a town for awhile and do all the smaller quests around the area. Gives more of a sense of home as you get to know everyone.

On a no fast travel character I will still use the wagons from time to time. And I very rarely do the main quests on a no fast travel due to climbing that dreaded mountain!

The thing about it making it feel more like home would probably help in choosing a house. Witch people do you feel more attached to or like better

I love markarth and riften... And solitude. I've had houses all over on different characters and enjoy playing it from their perspective.

The only place I haven't had a house or become thane is windhelm.. Kinda want to make a character for windhelm now!

Ok I just use carts for if I need to get somewhere fast. Like a very important quest.
