Hello, I just picked up the Skyrim Legendary Edition on Steam as I had some extra money laying around and I've only heard positive reviews about the game. I know that the main reason people get the game on the PC compared to consoles is that you can mod it. As I have a good computer, I decided that I might as well try some of these mods out (I'll leave my PC specs at the bottom of this post in case you need them). So my question is, what're some mods that are just to good to pass up? As I just picked up the game, I don't know what type of mods I want as I haven't tried any out. Thanks!

Pc Specs- AMD FX 8350, ASUS R9 270x, MSI 970A-G46, 8 gb of ram. (I have plenty of hard drive space left)

Some of these mods are neat, but HUGE, and can be difficult to get rid of, without starting a whole new game.

I might recommend doing a first play through completely vanilla. See what the game itself has to offer, so you'll have a better idea what you're gaining and giving up, with each mod.

I would also suggest a some research on load orders and conflicts, which could prevent otherwise very good mods from working as they should.

Finally, get to know the console commands, which may be used to help you advance the game in the event of a glitch or bug, or change things without need of a mod. As with some mods, however, changes made in console stay that way, unless you remember to change them back or start a new character.

Always hard-save before you change anything. Here are a couple of links you might find helpful.

The back-and-forth in this thread gives you a glimpse of just how confusing it can be.

These two are similar but have different takes on the various commands and how they're used. Uesp, in my opinion, is a great first-place for any skyrim-related inquiry.

I included this because what fun is using mods without making them? Giant, confusing modding is best left to people a lot smarter than I am, but for those simple little tasks (like making your sword weigh 3 lbs instead of 12 lbs) it's often better to do yourself than to wonder what someone else has done/changed/etc. The page will link you to a hub of more-specific tutorials, so you can tinker with making your own npcs, followers, weapons, armor, etc.

Welcome to the Skyrim world. Have fun.
