Now I'm all for the whole sitting there crafting Iron Daggers or hitting Shadowmere of sneak attacking the Grey Beards, there are just some perks that are too hard to get to 100 through normal playing. But I discovered a way to take a few helpful perks and bunch them together and max them all out, with a little bit of work. The first quest you need to do is Stone of Barenziah quest (http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Stones_of_Barenziah), which yes it does take a while but it pays off even after this tutorial. What this does is makes precious gems spawn in nearly every chest and urn you open. Next, go to Halted Stream Mine, just north of Whiterun and get the spell tome "Transmute Mineral Ore" (http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Transmute_Mineral_Ore). Now just play the game as you would, pick a quest line and complete it, I'd do Thieves Guild, but take your pick. But as you do this, do a few things: buy and mine all the iron ore you can, not the ingots, the ore. Loot every chest and urn and loot holding item you can, and save as many of the gems as possible. And last but not least, fill as many soul gems as humanly possible. You can do this by buying already filled ones, giving empty ones and a soul trap weapon to a companion, or loot the hidden Kahjiit Caravans (look in Trivia http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Khajiit_Caravans). Now after you do all these things, start to Transmute (or you can do this as you play). Transmute once or twice of however many times you can, wait, and then repeat, until all your iron is gold ores. Now smelt the gold into ingots and start to smith. Remember, smithing XP is based on item value, so make the things that are worth the most. And two gold rings (made out of one ingot) are worth more than one gold necklace. Once you use up all of your gems and ingots, time to enchant. Take whatever soul gems you have and use them to make whatever enchantment you have that is worth the most. Now travel around or wait 48 hours and just keep selling them, you should have gained AT LEAST 30 to 40 levels in smithing and enchanting and a few in speech and alteration as well. Happy hunting.

I definitely don't have the patience for the unusual gem quest. By the time you finished that, you could have already been at 100 smithing with just transmute. I transmute for rings and make arrows from ingots. It's really easy and since arrows weigh zero you can carry thousands of them.

Eta: I just noticed this recently, but a lot of the Immersive Weapons weapons are smelt able, so instead of selling them, I smelt them to ingots for more smithing.
