I've installed Skyrim without any DLC and played the game for some time.
I wanted to play the DLC also so I saved my ''Saves'' and uninstalled Skyrim so I can install Legendary edition. After I've installed Legendary edition I've pasted my old saves in the new saves folder and the game works just fine, I can play with my old character and all the progress is saved but I can't start any of the DLC quests...
I should also mention that I don't have any mods

Have you installed the DLC's correctly and have you ticked them in the data files in your skyrim laucher.

The dlc's dragonborn.esm dawnguard.esm and hearthfires.esm and there esp files should be in your skyrim data directory.

I couldn't even click on 'data files' it was unselectable
I found this solution somewhere:
You need to add that line in SkyrimPrefs.ini located in My document/MyGames/Skyrim or something. I don't use win 7 so figure it yourself, pleasa:D).

Look for the line:
[Launcher]
bShowAllResolutions=0
uLastAspectRatio=2

And add it like this:
[Launcher]
bShowAllResolutions=0
uLastAspectRatio=2
bEnableFileSelection=1

Did that, then I could click on ''data files'', checked all the boxes and DLC now works
