Am I the only person on the planet who didn't think the levelling system sucks in oblivion? The thought of how well it works didn't even cross my mind until I started hearing other people on forums complain about it. I have absolutely no issue with the levelling system in oblivion.

"F" that, they should have made a more solid game. The leveling system sucked.

how did it, Oblivion evolved R.P.g gaming, it was made to be different from the get xp then magicly get better for no reason style of gaming. Oh and if you didn't notice SKYRIMS THE SAME LEVELING SYSTEM AS OBLIVION EXCEPT IT'S FAR EASIER TO CHEAT AND EXPLOIT!!!!

Oblivion was better, You had a class Warrior, Mage, Thief, Acrobat etc... in skyrim there is no class, it almost isn't a proper R.P.G

The classes were cool, but a lot of them were built with crap you weren't really wanting to use. Building your own was cool, but you had to have seven skills, i always got stuck adding one i didnt want or something. Also, the acrobatics skill was totally ridiculous, having to jump everywhere you go and draining your stamina at the same time, dumb! Glad they did away with mysticism too. Casting sucked, character models were "cartoon-like", ect. And saying that Skyrim almost isn't an RPG?! Kid, Ive been palying RPG's since you were smimming in your dad's nutsack, so....

I have spent the last 10 years on rpg's from ff1 to witcher 2 i have played em all more or less and i can tell you that skyrim is more of an action adventure than an rpg, furthermore age means nothing hours played is key. Bethesda have gone from 1000+.hours in morrowind to 100 tops in skyrim that makes it less of a rpg since it isn't cinematicly based gameplay like other more story orientated franchises. Plus you can't knock oblivion for graphics and animations since its a 2006 game.

well, good job shorty, i still got you beat gaming by 26 yrs! hahaha. Started on the NES. And Ive played plenty of RPG's without classes. Skyrim is about as "role-play" as it gets unless your're a LARPer. Age is a huge factor, ive played RPG's you never thought existed. You've played the Witchers and some other ES and FF, wow, you have so much experience, lol! You're hardly any kind of authority. You arrived at the tip of the iceberg, i was there in the beginning

I watched my bro-in law age 42 playing games consoles up from the ZX spectrum, seen all sorts of them long forgot rpg titles. Don't make assumptions that because you were here first you know better than everybody else. we all have our opinions and most gamers I met of all generations (70's-now) agree. if you think skyrim is a proper rpg then fine. I love it but I finished EVERYTHING in 70-90 hours save 1 or 2 small dungeons. It took me 300 hours to scratch the surface of morrowind and 200 to fully do oblivion. even fallout 1-nv took longer each than skyrim. Don't be quick to assume that the modern generation is all fps and ea sports or completly oblivious to a good rpg. Show some respect for others opinions.

I didn't mind the level scaling so much in Oblivion. However, I didn't care for running into a bandit on the road, robbing me, wearing glass armor and seemingly having more money than a Count.

Now, more on topic.

Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim are all good games. They each do something a bit different. Add some new things, takes some things out. They all have their good and bad points. I always like to watch a few Let's Plays of games I'm interested in, to see if I would like it.

You can't play Morrowind expecting Daggerfall. Just as you can't play Oblivion expecting Morrowind. Or play Skyrim expecting Oblivion. Tackle each game as a separate entity and you'll find enjoyment.

A piece of advice, if you want it. If you find you do not like the level scaling in Oblivion you can do something very minor to avoid it or keep it at your pace. Choose skills you don't plan on using much or that level slowly. Make these your major/minor skills. Place the skills you will use as miscellaneous. This will allow you to build up the skills you do use will avoiding leveling up. When you do want to level up, just work on the 'unused' skills you choose as your major/etc.

I hope this has been somewhat helpful.

Stereofanic you did everything in skyrim in under 100 hours? Even if that were possible rushing through a game like skyrim is pretty stupid. It demands you take your time to appreciate it all.

I never chose a class from the lists in oblivion, I always made a custom class. I find traditional class systems too restrictive. Maybe I don't want to just specialise in melee combat, maybe I wan to mix one handed with alteration etc. Besides, you don need classes for a game to be an RPG. Final Fantasy VIII didn't have specific classes, my case is now thoroughly rested.

Shiney, let's be bad guys.
I gave into peer pressure and picked up oblivion last night. So far I like but I did need to recalibrate for a six year old game but other than that
