I want to through Arena at a wall

So I have been giving Arena a go on and off for the past month or so and I finally found my way out of the first dungeon and got minutely used to the game mechanics. Then it asked me a question from the game guide (which I don't have) at the Shift Gate. I got it wrong and the game froze up on me. So I downloaded the game guide and tried again, but you can't use your mouse when you are in a DOSbox so I failed it again. I can't decide if I'm going to give up or if it is worth me writing down everything by hand or wasting tons of printer ink and therefore tons of money.

The mouse works with this version. Just download ArenaSetup.exe. Hit alt + E to play in a window and you can easily switch between the game and the guide.
