No matter how deep I go into the western RPG rabbit hole, Japanese RPGs were my first love, and my ears still perk up at the sound of the Final Fantasy theme. So I'm pulling for Final Fantasy XV. Even after an eight-year-long development that's spawned two console generations there's still a hope that they can pull off something good.
This footage of the game's real-time combat system seems to be a step in the right direction. It looks a lot like Kingdom Hearts, honestly, which isn't a bad thing. Lots of enemies onscreen, including one very big one.
Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata recently said that the game is about 55 percent complete. But that doesn't mean eight more years to wait, he promises, and there will be a demo next year.
