How do I activate beast mode?

So, I'm honestly feeling a bit silly by now but I cannot manage to actually transform into a werewolf. I select beast form but nothing happens at all.

Select it to make it 'active' then use whatever button you usually use for a shout. On PC, this defaults to 'z' but it may be something else for you.

Ahh crap! I thought the thing was activated same as held magic. I'm Nord and never once used Battle Cry for the same reason. D'oh

Be careful with the beast because at higher levels the form sucks. Try sprinting at them and attacking you can knock down most enemies.
