If you recall, last month this site broke the news that Gung Ho Entertainment, holders of all intellectual property belonging to Game Arts, was holding a survey to determine what in their library people would be interested in seeing a rerelease of. The results are now in, and the top game in the survey will now be remastered with modern conveniences like Achievements. It's Grandia II!

This new release will be based on the Dreamcast version of the title, which most fans agree is the definitive version. In addition to Achievements the newly revamped JRPG will have remastered HD graphics (though assets will be untouched) and it'll support both mouse & keyboard and gamepad play.

Jun Iwasaki, the president of GungHo America, released a statement along with the news. "With the rise of digital downloads, it is especially important that classic games continue to remain available to play in some form. Grandia II was chosen for a PC re-release because it represents both a hallmark of the Grandia series and an example of how great JRPGs can be."

Grandia II was already released in PC form once, back when it was new. UbiSoft did the port, but good luck getting it to work today if you can find it. Wait for the Steam version.

A date of release has not been revealed yet, but the game will be remastered for Windows. No word on a Mac or a Linux version yet.
