Hello Friends! I am getting bored and having a hard time staying focused. I will make a character, play them for a day or two and then start over. I am wanting to find a build I can stick with and enjoy, I have been told that sometimes playing a character based off books or TV shows can make it more fun and help set guidelines for making it more challenging. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions or something I can do to help me stay with it. I usually always play a mage of some sort so I am not sure if I should try something different than that as well. I am playing on the PC the special addition so I can use the mods provided if it will help. I have toyed with the ideas of a pirate, viking, serial killer/poisoner or something like that. I play DnD a lot and watch a lot of sci fi/fantasy shows/movies so I am pretty open to any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

How do you backstab a Dragon?
Two of my favorites were my Selene (Underworld) takeoff as a vampire assassin and my Argonian serial killer who lived in the sewer beneath Golden Glow (there's a bed roll and a chest) and supported himself by thievery and banditry.

Sometimes it's about variety.

Are you using any mods? There are some interesting new races and a bunch of new adventures/dungeons/quests.

I have also had fun playing my Alchemist pacifist (she uses a lot of pacify, fear, animal control/friendship/Kyne's Peace) (I've played her for years) and my roving bare-knuckle monk who, for some reason, really, really hates bears, werewolfs and were-bears.

It's all about trying something different. Take it from somebody with 7K+ hours in to this game, I can really tell where you're coming from.

I am currently playing the special edition so I use the mods that Bethesda lets you add from the main menu. I use the alternate start to kind of help with immersion and trying and mix things up with that.

Cool! But I don't really find the mods all that limiting - there are almost 1500 of them, after all, and a good 20 of them are new adventures with another 10 or 12 for races, etc...

I would just say to try something new and see what happens.

try hybridizing your characters with many different styles.
you can even experiment with many races and kinds of styles.
I am going for a wood elf male and female build both archers and skilled sneak pack hunters and thief assassins.

you can also try and entire range of skills within your perk points as well.
No harm in giving a hybrid mix a go.

The best way to recreate interest in the game is to change things up from your normal playstyle. If you're used to playing as a mage, play as a warrior or a rogue. It gives you different viewpoints of play and gives you a broader amount of options to discover in the game. You'd be surprised how many things you've missed ever after all this time.

I agree with Gregor Moon Fang.

I played as a warrior the first few times. Then I tried playing as a pure mage. it forced me to rethink almost everything. The same should work in reverse if you play as a warrior this time.

If you like Magic you should download Apocalypse Spells & Ordinator Perks of Skyrim (They're compatible). The level of specialisation you can get is amazing.

I used to do the same your doing. Re roll a character after lvl 12. Until I made my khajiit assassin thief stealth archer. Hes farther than ive ever mad it lvl 28 now. He is my first char to get a skill to 100 (sneak) and I see no sign of putting him away anytime soon. Maybe try a stealth archer with a dagger or sword as backup.
Im going to try illusion with him as well to make him kinda a nightblade or.. night bow i guess
