Honestly, I love Serana so much that my character and her consider themselves unrelated sisters because they get on so much. I pity her a lot because of her dark past, and how she never really had the chance a normal kid could have growing up. So therefore I take it upon myself to spoil Serana rotten at every chance my character gets!

My character is wearing Royal Vampire Armor and Vampire Boots with Harkons Sword. Pretty moderate...whilst Serana is wearing helmetless Ebony Armor with the Aetherial Crown and a maxed out improved Ebony Sword. She looks gorgeous! I figured she deserved the crown more than me because she helped me a lot on my quest to get it. My character isn't a vampire anymore and I don't think she will be ever again, but that doesn't stop her from taking Serana along wherever she goes.

I love Serana's attitude towards things and I always give her a shove when she complains about the weather or some other thing. I honestly think she's one of the best created characters in the game and she's the only follower that I can bear to have around because I think she's unique in her own way.

I just don't understand why so many people hate her? Yes, she's a little bratty and annoying, yes she gets in the way and reanimates every corpse she see's: but that's what makes Serana her! Anyone else out there just love Serana and can't bear to go on an adventure alone without her? Also, what have you dressed your Serana in, I'm curious!

She 'aight :p

I do like her as a follower, but my natural rejection of the road more travelled has meant I've only used her for about 20 hours. I just think she's a little cliche. Still cool though, I wish all the followers had been given the same amount of attention.

Ancient Nord Armor.

I do and dont like her. She is useless against undead and especialy vulnerable to animunculi.
She went trough hell to get that vampirism and I pitty her for that.

I always play Skyrim as a straight girl because I am one and way too many games out there force me to be a straight guy, so I always viewed my character's relationship with Serana as a close but completely platonic one. I think what I like best about Serana is how she won't just do anything you say cheerfully. Marry you? Sorry, I hate temples. Part ways? You don't get rid of me that easily. Wait here? You can run ahead if you like but I'll be following. If you ask her to trade items too early she'll tell you to keep your hands to yourself, and even after she'll consent to carrying your stuff she'll say things like: "Anything good?" or "This had better not be all the stuff you can't be bothered with". After the unswerving obedience and fawning respect you get from all the other followers, Serana is a refreshing change. The relationship just feels more equal when the supposedly junior partner can talk back or say no.

My pity for her began in my first playthrough when I joined the Dawnguard. I thought a vampire hunter probably wouldn't like or trust a vampire that much and be unhappy about being saddled with her, so I took all the neutral or negative conversation options with her, and never took the: "I really like and trust you completely" options...and she still thought I was the best person she'd ever met and insanely overprotective. After meeting both parents and hearing a few stories about her childhood, I understood why. I hadn't been planning to keep her as a companion when Dawnguard ended, but the pathetically hopeful tone when she asked if I had more adventures planned tugged my heartstrings, and I couldn't even bear the thought of telling her my adventures wouldn't involve her.

I've actually come up with this incredibly elaborate theory about why a Dawnguard aligned character wouldn't kill her on sight. In my head-canon, the Dragonborn was totally about to kill her when they woke her up, but Serana used Vampire's Seduction to scramble their minds into thinking taking her home was a good idea. Then when she turned up at the Dawnguard headquarters, she used Vampire's Seduction on all the Dawnguard again so they wouldn't kill her (which is why Isran, even though he remembers he hates vampires, can't actually bring himself to kill her). As Serana and the Dragonborn travelled, they both got genuinely fond of each other, but deep down Serana is convinced it's only because she's used Vampire Seduction on themand believes that if she takes it off or even admits to using it she'll lose the only friend she's ever made. This is the root of why she won't marry the Dragonborn. She thinks it's just her vampire seduction, and she thinks she doesn't deserve to be happy with a person whose mind and emotions she has screwed around with.

Plus her tendency to resurrect everything in sight is massively entertaining. I laughed myself sick the first time she resurrected a chicken.

But yeah, most of my female characters are either bi or lesbian. Mostly because there are no interesting male characters for them to marry or interesting male characters at all (save for some).

Serana is cool, but only because I pity her. I can never bring myself to be rude to her

And she's all clingy which is kinda cute.

Serana is great. I love how she actually reacts with the environment around her when you are idle or she is waiting. I will enter my house, and tell her to wait, and she goes over to the spit to cook up some food, or sits down at the dinner table, or start brewing up some potions while I'm running over my house sifting though containers to find something (organization ftw right?).

I do wish other followers were given as much attention as Serana, and they would interact like she does instead of being right behind you at all times like a little puppy.

But... I get so sick of her complaining, and I get so sick of seeing reanimated enemies. Sure, it was funny the first time, but after 1,000 comments about the sun and the weather, or 1,000 reanimated draugr following me, I got so tired of it.

In the end, I lost her. Not sure where she went. Disappeared. I think I was in some dungeon on Solstheim. Oh well. She'll be fine. Who needs followers when you have MEEKO?!

One of my favorite characters uses her as a full-time follower and a rp love interest because he has spent thousands of years wandering alone and immortal but now has found someone to share the journey with.

Pretty much this. She's superior in the way she seems to have her own mind and will do her own thing if you're not doing much. She behaves like the rest of the followers should have behaved. I've seen her enjoy a song while I was at an inn. The complaining does get a bit old. But most of the people of Skyrim get on my nerves these days from having listened to them spout the same crap over and over. It's why I prefer followers that don't talk at all unless something noteworthy happens.

My main character is lesbian. No shame. Sylgja is beautiful. :D

I do love Serana, I LOVE her sarcastic comments and her unique dialogue.

I love how she will interact with other things while waiting for you... the first time I saw her using an alchemy table, I thought it was a glitch, but I looked it up and saw she was designed to do her own thing... I absolutely love that, because all the other followers are just sheep, really. Following you around constantly. And getting in your way... which Serana never does. :p

I feel like she handles herself well in combat, and her reanimated corpses actually help me a lot because they become a decoy. Her spells aren't that strong but she draws fire away from me, allowing me to kill easier. Which is extremely helpful.

All around, she's a fantastic follower. :) In my game though, I made the mistake of asking her to get cured... Nothing really changed, except her eye color. I wish I had just kept her as her old vampire self.

She is my favorite follower. I like how she is unique and will do her own thing while waiting for you. Her dialog is very unique as well, and she is pretty good in combat. She has saved my skin a few times

She is my favorite follower and I also pity her for all of the crap she was put up. If I had to choose one follower, it would be her. She is a brave and a very nice woman. If she was real, I would love to be with her but in the game, because I play basically as a thieve / assassin, I don’t need her help. I used her for some time even after I killed her father but not anymore and she is at the Dawnguard fort. I cured her from vampirism and I am very happy that she did. When she was my follower, I gave her an Ebony armor and a daedric dagger because basically, she loves to use her magic and she is more powerful doing so that in melee attack.

Regarding Sylgja, she is the most beautiful woman out there. I was very disappointed when I found out she is not available for marry. Between Lydia, Serana and Sylgja, I think I would pick Sylgja and never look back. What a pity !

I just started Dawnguard on my newest character, this time around my goal is to cure Serana of her curse. And, if at all possible, to leave her mother trapped in the Soul Cairne, ending forever Harkon's line.

You are talking about the Sylgja the miner in Shor's Stone who has been ill, aren't you?

This chick: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Sylgja

If you are, I have good news. Sylgja is a marriage candidate without the console or mods. Deliver a satchel of letters to her parents at Darkwater Crossing and she'll be all over you when you get back.

Sylgja can be married! You have to bring her letters to Darkwater Crossing and then return to her, and she wil become interested in you. :) She is definitely available for marry!

Just getting into Dawnguard again, refreshing some of the things I like (and dislike) about Serana.

I don't like how we must trust her instantly. She does little to earn our trust. Nothing, really. We free her, then she demands we escort her to her father. No questions asked. "Oh yes, mysterious vampire. I shall follow you like a lamb to your giant castle full of other vampires!" I feel like the dragon born must have been enthralled some how to go along with that!

It would be nice if we had the option to throw her twisted Vampiric behind out of Castle Dawnguard, or even attack her. I mean..She's a vampire. We are vampire hunters. She's foolish enough to bring an Elder Scroll to us, we should be able to claim it from her corpse.

I would like the option for mistrust, and to complete the quest (or fail horribly!) without her assistance.

She's very sweet, and seems gentle and kind. Very sensitive. And she's extraordinarily pretty! It's easy to forget that she eats people to survive. Probably a lot of people! I'm people. I don't want someone eating me, so I assume the people she feeds off of had similar views. However, they never really explore that fact with Serana, they don't go into it. Period. You can forget she's a vampire, because she hardly acts like one. She never feeds in front of the Dovahkiin and only mentions being hungry once, as a taunt to Isran (who I love, I can't help it. So eccentric. So paranoid. All the Dawnguard are enjoyably quirky.).

So she's sort of a white-washed, polished up version of a vampire. Sure, Dragonborn. Go to sleep. Serana will keep an eye on you...If you wake up feeling a little woozy, it's probably just a cold. Nevermind those holes in your neck.

It's not that I don't like Serana, I do. She may be my favorite follower in the game, with the key exception of Derkeethus. And I would almost always eventually end up helping her if I had a choice in the matter. But there is no choice. You must help her, and that irks me.

Exactly. Skyrim has a way of forcing you down a linear path that only a moron would take. So, I usually end up making young characters that "never experienced the harshness of life", etc.

I'm not sure why they couldn't have made a Dawnguard version of her. A young, renegade, Redguard.... that loves to hunt down those blood sucking vampires. Would've been so cool.
