I adore the crossbows and just recently started using them and they just seem to kick major butt despite the reload trouble. I wanted to know if anyone else had my "Enhanced Dwarven crossbow" and what they think of it.
I have an Enhanced Crossbow upgraded to Epic status, so it does something like 90-100 damage. I barely ever use anything else, plus I buy bolts by the hundreds and like to have around 300-400 at any given time. I my crossbow, as you can see by my signature, it's my weapon of choice.
Same here. I enjoyed playing a crossbow specialist (Ex Dawnguard) for the Dark Brotherhood. It gave my character some sort of identity on how they dispose of contracted targets.
I much prefer bows then bolts sometimes, since the advantage of bolts and disadvantages of bolts between bows is.....
A bolt: is faster shooting without holding down the button to draw a shot alike a bow.But you get less cantrol in your automatic shots, since bolts are automatic drawing weapons in each shot , but are not always accurate with each long range shot.
A bow: is you get more cantrol then a bolt weapon , and can draw the shot but may get a slower bow draw shot to fire distance with an arrow.
But I like both bolts and bows because bows are better as manuel shots , when it comes to drawing the aim shot.While bolts is a quick automatic without drawing shot.
And this is why i wish i had a good PC to play Skyrim on (i have the 360 version), cause then i could use a crossbow and my healing spells at the same time....now i think i know why one handed crossbows dont exist.
Anyway right now I use a Flawless Enhanced Steel Crossbow with an Absorb Health enchantment. Its called the "Ironic Crossbow" becuase the crossbow is the prefered weapon of the Dawnguard (vampire hunters) and Im using a crossbow that absorbs health, like a vampire.

I love crossbows as well and the price of Dawnguard was worth it for the crossbows alone. I play on a PC as well so luckily there are a variety of different crossbow mods that provide different options to use. My favorite of these crossbows is the Nightingale crossbow and I primarily keep a large stock of ebony bolts on hand for it.
