When I first played Skyrim, it was a grand adventure filled with hours of loot-hoarding, grinding out skills and levels, slaughtering acres of bad guys, and of course doing every single quest known to man in all your bad ass glory. Then I came upon the Lightning Storm spell........



The Saiyan

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with Saiyans, allow me to fill you in. A Saiyan is an alien warrior from the planet Vegeta, they love to fight and prefer using their fists over guns/swords/etc they also know how to manipulate their energy for offensive/defensive purposes. In short, a Saiyan is a prideful soldier for hire who will wipe the floor with anyone.


Or at least that's what they were in the show, needless to say this build has gone through several variations since its birth. I'm hoping this is the final version because I am extremely satisfied with it. Not only with the skills and how they improve, but also with the overall look of the character. Without further ado, I present you with the build.

Race: Nord
Stone: Atronach
Major Skills: Destruction, Alteration, Restoration
Minor Skills: Smithing, Enchanting, Alchemy
Stats: 3 magicka/2 health/1 stamina (Saiyans use a lot of ki)
Armor: Cloth except for hands which are light armor​
Shouts: Dismay, Whirlwind, Unrelenting Force



The Race: Nords are an excellent choice for a Saiyan warrior because of their racial. Battle Cry is effective on monsters up to level 99. It's similar to when they power up in the tv show, everyone else gets scared!

The Stone: This was a difficult choice, but through much consideration the Atronach Stone was selected. It offers an interesting method of play, the stone gives up to +100 magick, up to 100% spell absorb, at the cost of stunted magicka regen (to a minimum of 0). This requires the Saiyan to take some magick hits in order to keep firing energy blasts.

The armor: This build actually utilizes two different armors. One is for Fighting (Saiyan Gi) the other is for improving (Gravity Training)

Head - The Jagged Crown/Circlet or Dragon Priest Mask
Neck - Any Necklace
Chest - Monk Robes (Bought at Radiant Raiments in Solitude)
Hands - Hide Bracers
Finger - Any ring
Boots - Redguard Boots (Radiant Raiments in Solitude)

Gravity Training: All enchants are Fortify Alchemy
Head: Any
Neck: Any
Hand: Any
Finger: Any

The Major Skills:

Destruction - The School of Destruction or Ki Offense, measures your Saiyan's ability to use Ki energy to hurt their opponent. However not just any spells can be used. A Saiyan focuses on the following Fire/Shock spells:

Shock - Rapid Ki Blasts
Firebolt - Ki Blast
Fireball - Galick Gun
Lightning Cloak - Energy Aura
Incinerate - Final Flash
Lightning Storm - Kamehameha Wave

Alteration - The School of Alteration or Ki Defense, measures your Saiyan's potential to protect him or herself from damage. Just like with Destruction there are only certain spells available to the Saiyan

Restoration - The School of Restoration or Healing Factor, measures your Saiyan's ability to heal OUTSIDE of battle. That's right, Saiyans don't heal in battle, we have little green men do that for us and there is none here! You can however heal before/after battle. Very useful early on..

Light Armor - Light Armor or Physical Defense, measures the amount of damage your Saiyan mitigates when attacked. Light Armor is only used on the hands in the form of Hide Bracers, this allows the Saiyan to move quickly but until other abilities are developed. It will make you very vulnerable to damage.

The Minor Skills: The remaining skills (Smithing, Enchanting, and Alchemy) are all closely related to one another and raising them all equally is extremely beneficial.

Smithing/Alchemy - Smithing and Alchemy represent Martial Arts. This determines just how durable you are both mind and body, by improving Smithing to certain levels, it allows increased access to Alchemy.

Here's how it works. Smithing is divided into fourths.

25 Smithing
50 Smithing
75 Smithing
100 Smithing

This build requires the use of the Fortify Restoration exploit in order for its unarmed damage to be viable, the number of Gravity Training items (explained further up) that you can use depends on your Smithing.

How to do the Fortify Restoration exploit
First, create gear that has a Fortify Alchemy enchant (Gravity Training gear)
Second, get ingredients for potion (Abecean Longfin/Cyrodilic Spadetail + Salt Pile)
Equip your Fortify Alchemy gear (GT Gear)
Make Fortify Restoration Potion
Take off Fortify Alchemy gear (GT Gear)
Drink Fortify Restoration Potion

You will want to do this until you have at least 50% bonus on the item you picked when your smithing is at 25

At 25 Smithing aim for 50%
At 50 Smithing aim for 50% (2 Items, 100% total bonus)
At 75 Smithing aim for 75% (3 Items, 225% total bonus)
At 100 Smithing aim for 100% (4 Items, 400% total bonus)

Once you complete your GT Gear, its time to make other potions!

The potency of your potions scale with how powerful your GT Gear is, as you improve your Smithing your potential for raw damage increases in all other areas!

After drinking a potion of Smithing while wearing GT Gear, temper your hide bracer and watch as your armor rating soars upwards!

Enchanting - Enchanting is your Saiyans ability to do better in all aspects of combat through Transformation. Your current state of Transformation again depends on your discipline with Martial Arts or Smithing and how much Gravity Training you can endure.

Guides for Various Necessities


The Atronach Stone Exploit - It is possible to get to 100% Spell Absorb with 0% Magick Regen with only a slight increase due to Recovery. As your Alchemy continues to improve, keep visiting the Atronach to increase the power of the Stone. Thanks to Mason for the tip.

"Consuming a potion of restoration (Longfin + Spadetail) and a potion of restoration and frost weakness (Longfin+Spadetail+White Cap) before selecting the atronach stone will boost its power permanently." -- Mason


The Unarmed Enchant - This is a really easy enchant to get, go to Riften and head into the Ratways, eventually you'll come upon a guy who insists on punching his problems instead of dealing with them. Take him out and the enchant is yours! Playing unarmed shows some pretty awesome kill cams!


The Jagged Crown - By taking part in the Civil War, you can receive this item which is the ONLY armor in the game that fills in a hair slot. That means there's certain other helmets you can wear along with it, giving you 4 different enchant bonuses!

You need to take part in the war with the side you escaped Helgen with. When it comes time to give the crown to your leader, reverse pickpocket it to him. The quest will finish then after its done simply pickpocket it back off him. Voila, you have your own Jagged Crown!


Special Moves (Potions of Destruction are INCREDIBLY powerful, for best results use them when you're almost dying)

Dragon Dash
Requires: Potion of Destruction + Whirlwind Sprint + Lightning Cloak
This deadly cocktail for disaster combines the intense damage of your Alchemy skills and your aura. Sprint forward into a pack of enemies for the best results.

Cinematic Powering Up
Requires: Potion of Destruction + Battle Cry
Not really a special move but awesome regardless, in the show Saiyans would power up to the point that their enemies would wet themselves. Do it here to show baddies you mean business!

I'd duplicate, rather than pickpocket.. because when your putting all this time into those other schools, sneaking and pickpocket might get left out... and it would be much harder to do that.

Just some advice, but great build, heaps of detail! Nice job
