The Mighty Lurk Queen
Ohaio, fellow otakus! This awesome thread is a place to share and discover new anime. I myself am a lover of anime, and I'm aiming to watch 100 animes. Share your favorite anime, ask for recommendations and participate in my Anime Number Game. The anime number game is a little thing I like to do to recommend the animes I've loved simply by having someone choose a number between 1 and 50. If the anime attached to the number is one you have not seen, you are required to watch it.
So Nerd out my friends!

May I ask why you didn't like Hellsing (and which version did you watch? There is a major difference in the plot between the 2) , Witchblade, and Desert Punk?

The main reason why I don't like them is due to different reasons. Hellsing (the original) was that it didn't interest me. Witchblade was one I watched through but the only thing that I enjoyed about it was the relationship between the main character and the daughter. Other than that, I don't remember much. While the tactics of Desert Punk was good, the character was rather vulgar and it ruined the anime for me.

The Mighty Lurk Queen
The character just kinda threw it all off and as a woman, it was really unappealing to me. That's just my opinion though. I'm not saying any of them are bad, they just weren't right for me.

On another note, I finished Blast of Tempest. It was amazingly done with great action, a wonderful plot, and well formed characters. I've got nothing but good things to say about it.
Now, I'm on an anime called Usagi Drop (Bunny Drop in English). It's an anime that I fell in love with before I ever watched. I watched a review of it and it seemed perfect. So far, the characters seem relatable and it's a pure joy to watch for me.

The Mighty Lurk Queen
Synopsis
One day, a sorceress princess was stuffed into a barrel and banished.
One day, a single girl was suddenly murdered, and the culprit still runs free.
And one day, a battle spanning time and space over magic and revenge began!
Sanity and madness, sense and intelligence, self-confidence and convictions.
The tragic tale of this irrational world starts now.

The Kusaribe family is a family of sorcerers under the protection of the "Tree of Origins". Their princess, Hakaze Kusaribe, was the greatest sorceress of their family. But Samon Kusaribe, a member of their family seeking to resurrect the "Tree of World's End", a tree that opposes the "Tree of Origins" and controls the power of destruction, stuffs her into a barrel, and banishes her to a deserted island. From the deserted island, she sends a message out to sea, which is picked up by Mahiro Fuwa, a young boy who's sworn vengeance upon the criminal who killed his little sister, Aika. Mahiro agrees to help Hakaze under the condition that she find Aika's killer with her magic. But once Mahiro's best friend and Aika's lover, Yoshino Takigawa is rescued from danger, he too gets dragged into this tale of revenge.

Deathnote... I watched a Japanese movie (2 actually) that was called this (im 90% sure that was the name). Is that what you guys are talking about? Or is there an anime series off the same thing? Or completely unrelated??

Blast of Tempest is up full on Hulu.
Also, Hulu finally completed Tokyo Ravens, so be sure to check that one out as well

Deathnote is one of the most famous animes today. Its funny how well it sucks you in. My cousin is a latent otaku-in-training, and I got her craving the manga. If it were in english on Hulu, I'd finish it all in one day. Alas my dub curse holds me back yet again. (And I'm also attempting to have the bf read it, but him and books don't really agree, despite the fact he says he likes reading.)

I have to agree to some measure. The only difference between American comics and Japanese manga is the fact that it's reversed. It's not difficult to pick up though. He and I made a deal, so once he finishes it, I'll keep up my end of the bargain. I get that some people simply aren't cut out to be so obsessed, but you got to give me props for trying to get him to get out of his comfort zone. I would be who I am if not for someone like that. It's sucks that she isn't around now that I'm just as much if not more of an Otaku than she was.
