It is a mere five years after the Dragonborn of legend defeated Alduin, the world eater, and Miraak, servant of Hermaeus Mora. The civil war, put on hold during the dragon crisis, is now back on in full swing, with holds declaring their loyalty to the imperials or stormcloaks. However, that is far from the worse of the events plaguing Skyrim. Minor towns and villages, beneath the notice of soldiers on both sides, have had entire populations disappear, overnight. The hold guards have been unable to track the disappearances, and whatever tracks that are visible quickly deadend. To that end, both the would be high-queen Elisif of Solitude, and the leader of the rebellion, self proclaimed high-king Ulfric Stormcloak have put out calls for mercenaries and hunters, willing to hunt down the missing people, and bring their abductors to justice. The mercenaries are to assemble in dragonbridge, the place closest to nearest spate of disappearances.

Hey, guys. This is my most recent attempt at a roleplay of my own. Gonna just set down some rules, before you put down some CCs'

1: No Godmodding. Fairly straight forwards, but an example of this would be having a character with a sword that instantly destroys a whole group of enemies, or a spell that destroys an entire town. Armour that cannot be damaged or pierced. Obviously plate armour is stronger than, say, leather, but it still has its weaknesses.

2: None of us are the Dragonborn. In fact, nobody knows where the Dragonborn is at the moment. He may make an appearance as an NPC, but we'll talk about that later. The point is, none of us have shouts.

3: Try to have good spelling and grammar. I understand if english isn't your first language, but an attempt would be appreciated.

4: Your intro post must be at least three paragraphs long. Giving a good introduction to your character, what they think of the situation, what they think of their new companions, leads to a good writing relationship.

5: Connects with rule 4, but still important. All replies after your intro should be at least a paragraph in length. Short, one or two line characters really limit what your fellow writers can reply with, and it's a good way to kill off a roleplay before it really starts.

6: No fighting in the OOC. I don't think there will be, since most of the writers that remain on here/have come back, are fairly 'professional' but I'll moderate any disagreements that can't be settled between yourselves.

7: You can have up to two (2) characters, so long as you can keep writing them consistently.

    Name: Luarin Drascua

    Alias: The Shadeling

Age: 89, looks about twenty, twenty five.

    Sex: Female

    Race: Dunmer

    Sexuality: Asexual

    Relationship/Marital status: Single/N/A

Laterality: Prefers the right hand, but she is capable with both.

    Afflictions: N/A

Appearance: Luarin is lean, and small, standing at 5'5", with barely noticeable curves. Her skin is very dark grey, nearly black, and her head has been shaved bald. What facial hair she does have, notably her eyebrows, are black. She has high cheekbones, a thin nose, and similarly thin lips. Her most outstanding features, however are her eyes, which unlike most dark elves, are a pale, icy blue. If her victims' do happen to see her, those same eyes are often the last thing they see.

Armour: As the Shadeling, Luarin wears a dark robe that covers a mixture of dark leather and steel. The leather allows her to move silently and quickly while stalking her targets, and the armor keeps her alive, should she be forced to engage in close combat. Steel protects her forearms, shoulders and shins. She wears no helmet or breastplate, as the wait would only slow her down.

Weaponry: Her largest weapon is a leaf bladed shortsword she keeps on her waist, but the pair of elven daggers on her hips are her primary close combat choice. But her most favored weapon is the odd crossbow she carries with her. Rather than a single bolt firing mechanism, the weapon is something of a new invention, capable of firing up to four bolts from a spring-loaded cartridge at the bottom of the weapon. The disadvantage of such a weapon is a reduced range, and longer reload times.

Class: Assassin. (In game, I play her as an arcane assassin, but for the purposes of this I'll just go with the usual.)

Combat preference: Luarin will always strike from the shadows, using her crossbow or blades to pick off the enemy before they even realize she is present. When confronted, she relies on her shortsword, but rather than stand and parry attacks, she'll dance away from attacks, before leaping back in to land a fatal blow.

Personality: Despite being an assassin, Luarin is not particularly cruel or sadistic. She is, however cold and pragmatic, and she won't make many friends if she ends up working with a group. The Shadeling is persistent to no end, going to near insane means to complete her contracts. She despises braggarts, and doesn't flaunt her own skills either. If a situation begins to go south, she won't hesitate to abandon her companions, or run to fight again another day.

    Religion: Boethia.

    Positive traits: Clever, persistent, capable.

    Negative traits: Unfriendly, callous, introverted.

Likes: Quiet, gold, shadows and dark

Dislikes: Wide open spaces, loud people, braggarts, skeevers.

    Fears: Skeevers. Don't ask why.

History: Luarin Drascua was born to a simple farmer and his wife, who fled to Skyrim after the eruption of the Red Mountain in Morrowind. Settling outside of the city of Windhelm, her parents attempted to start a succesful farm, but the climate of Skyrim was too harsh for them to grow anything. Forced to move into the city just to survive, Luarins' family was lumped in with the other refugees living in the freshly named 'gray quarter'.

It wasn't long before her parents succumbed to disease from all the overcrowding and poor hygiene, but Luarin survived. Unlike most orphans, she was lucky. A kindly thief took her in, and taught her the skills she'd need to make a living. Even if it wasn't, technically, a lawful living. She became a skilled thief and became a ghost in the city of Windhelm, breaking into homes in the dead of night, and taking what valuable she could.

The first time she killed, was during an encounter with another thief, ramming her dagger into the mans throat as he attempted to take her haul. Rather than be traumatized by the experience, she discovered she enjoyed it. Leaving the life of theivery behind, she became a blade for hire, and over the next six decades, became a shadowy killer known only as the 'Shadeling'.

So I was thinking I'd take the old Wolf out for this one, but if @Signus wants to write his bounty hunter, I'll think of someone else.

    Name: Sothas Abrium

    Alias: The Iron Drake

    Age: 37

    Sex: Male

    Race: Argonian

    Sexuality: Heterosexual

    Relationship/Marital status: Single

    Laterality: Ambidextrous

    Afflictions: None

Appearance: Fitting with his name, most of Sothas' scales are a dark grey, with the exception of those on the underside of his jaw, throat and lower torso. A pair of long, six inch horns curve backwards from the back of his skull. Inch long bone growths line either side of his jaw, lending him a rather draconic appearance. His turqoise eyes and slit pupil stand out against the dark scale of his head, and make them and obvious target. A long, jagged scar stretches from the corner of his right eye to the base of his jaw.

Due to the extreme endurance required to move and fight with his gear, Sothas is very muscled, though as mentioned, not very agile. He is just over two metres tall, (6' 1"), making him even more intimidating, even out of his armour. Out of armour, he weighs just shy of 200 lbs. Burn scars mark his right arm, from the elbow up to the shoulder. His tail has acquired several small scars over the course of his career.

Armour: Sothas dons heavy plate to wade into battle. It is slightly darker than your average steel plate, with noticable reinforcement to the torso and shoulder area. At the arms and legs, he is covered with chainmail, and underneath, thin leather to absorb and dissipate blows. Only his head and tail are exposed, which he uses his shield to protect during battle. With all this heavy plate and mail, it is understandable that Sothas is more of a stationary fighter, and moves slower than most of his companions. He's conditioned himself to be able to maintain a good pace when on the march, but most enemies will see him as a tempting target for ranged weaponry.

His shield, though not armour in the sense that he wears it, is an important part of his gear. A concave construction, with a thin layer of steel on the outside, covering sturdy wooden planks, with a layer of leather on the inside. A pair of horizontal grips, centered on the interior of the shield, and several inches apart, allow him to lift and wield it in combat. An iron boss is centered, allowing for punching actions. A thick leather strap allows him to carry it across his back when not in combat.

Weaponry: Sothas wields a hand and a half sword, that brings to mind images of a cleaver, rather than an actual combat blade. It curves very slightly, with a flared tip, perfect for hewing through flesh and sinew. It is on this side of the weapon that has the edge. The material is a hybrid between steel and orichalcum, making the blade surprisingly durable. The large argonian is strong enough to wield the weapon one handed, freeing up his other hand to wield his tower shield.

    Class: Warrior/Bulwark

Combat preference: Sothas is best described as a glacier in combat. Strong and slow. Everything about his fighting style emphasizes pure power, at the cost of speed and maneuverability. When battle is joined, he brings up his shield, allowing it to absorb blows, while hacking and slashing at the enemy with his sword. From the front, he is all but immune to arrow fire. However, he is vulnerable to being outmaneuvered by fast opponents, and a group working together can easily surround and defeat him. When facing the enemy, especially in a confined space, his victory is all but assured.

If, he should by choice or coincidence lose his shield, or be unable to use it, he switches to a savage, two handed fighting style. Almost every blow will be an overhand chop, allowing him to crush through weaker enemy defences. He incorporates his tail as well, throwing spinning slashes into his attacks, whacking enemies and throwing them off balance, before delivering death with his blade. He can fight in hand to hand combat, and is strong enough to do some serious damage, but he prefers his weapon and will, obviously, use it the sword, rather than his fists.

Personality: If one were to judge Sothas by just his appearance, they would assume him to be a vicious, careless killer. This could not be further from the truth. Though he enjoys a good fight, he also cares deeply about others, and will throw himself into danger for his companions or innocents. He believes in upholding the law, so long as the law doesn't oppress the people. He is eager to engage others in conversation, whether it be about battle tactics or simply idle talk.

    Religion: The eight divines

    Positive traits: Noble, kind, determined

Negative traits: Stubborn, quick to trust

Likes:Helping others, seeing justice done, making friends, defending the weak.

    Dislikes: Tyrants, racists, murderers.

Fears: Failure. Not being good enough to help, especially when his assistance could have saved lives.

History: As his name would suggest, Sothas was not born in Black Marsh. He was raised by a blacksmith and his wife in the Cyrodiilic city of Leyawiin. When he was old enough, his adoptive father took Sothas as an apprentice blacksmith, teaching him how to forge and repair arms and armour, as well as more mundane objects. A few years later, both of the argonians' parents' came down with a persistent sickness. With Sothas unable to help, both passed away. With no reason to stay, he closed the family smithy, and left the city behind.

Without much purpose, Sothas wandered from city to city, offering his smithing services to those that could pay. Eventually, he joined up with the fighters' guild, who accepted such a capable smith with open arms. For several years, Sothas took jobs for the guild, and in that time, he developed his unique fighting style. The argonian left the guild after a spectacularly botched job saw nearly a dozen innocents massacred. This was also when he acquired the burn scars on his arm, trying to save those he could.

Once again, he became a wanderer, offering both his smithing and fighting skills. It was during a job to clear out a bandit den that he met his friend and companion, the dunmer woman Aylira Taliir. He saved her life, at the expense of a vicious wound that nearly blinded him. The two became fast friends after that time.

    Dialogue Colour: This mint green.

    Name: Aylira Taliir

    Alias: N/A

    Age: 29

    Sex: Female

    Race: Dunmer

    Sexuality: Bisexual

    Relationship/Marital status: Single

    Laterality: Ambidextrous

    Afflictions: None

Appearance: A slender woman, with moderate curves, but obviously well muscled. Her hair is long and black, drawn into a ponytail. She is about average height for a dunmer, (5'6"), and weighs just over a hundred pounds, soaking wet. She's collected several scars over the years, but they only serve to lend a harsh beauty to her features.

Armour: Aylira wears a mishmash of leather and steel. Though mostly made of leather, allowing swift and silent movement, for the most part, the dunmer rogues' shoulders, and forearms are covered by steel armour. The armour protecting her torso is reinforced with steel, but it's predominantly leather. Her boots are soft soled, allowing for stealthy movement, even on hard surfaces.

Weaponry: A dozen throwing knives, stored in a bandolier that crosses from her right shoulder to her left hip. For close combat, she wields a short bladed sickle sword, and a long, curving dagger.

    Class: Assassin/Rogue

Combat preference: Aylira prefers to commence her attack from the shadows, with ranged attacks. She is a skilled archer, but her real skill lays in the use of her sickle bladed khopesh, which she took off a redguard bandit leader early in her career. Where Sothas is a stationary, powerful fighter, who relies on his reach, shield and armour to stay alive, Aylira is the opposite.

She is in constant movement, opening an artery or slashing a muscle before moving on. When forced to stand and fight, she uses her two blades in tandem, opening up the opponents guard with one blade, and finishing them off with the other. However, Aylira is best suited to fight on the edges of an engagement, picking off archers, mages, and harrying reinforcements, while the more heavily armed folks draw their attention.

Personality: A sarcastic, introverted woman, Aylira is not looking to make friends. She'll happily betray those she works with if she thinks it will get her and those close to her closer to their goal. She believes strongly in paying back debts, though, and if she gives her word, she'll stick to it, even as she grumbles and whines about it.

    Religion: Eight divines

    Positive traits: Loyal, cunning, determined

    Negative traits: Ruthless, rash, introverted.

    Likes: Gold. Sothas. Annoying others.

Dislikes: Lawmen, strict rules, having her true feelings laid bare.

Fears: Drowning, losing Sothas (not that she'd ever admit it.)

History: Born to a simple family in Skyrim, Aylira spent most of her early days on her own. She resented the nords lording it over her people, and often dreamt of leaving Skyrim far behind. As she grew older, she actively began pursuing that goal. Thieving from wealthy nord families and storing the money away for her eventual departure. For over a year she did this, never being caught or suspected. The one first time she was caught, was also the first time she took a life.

Rather than feelings of guilt or horror at her actions, she found she enjoyed it. When the civil war broke out, she offered her services as a freelance assassin to the empire. With each kill, she grew in experience, revising her techniques until she could complete an assignment without anyone noticing she'd been there, the only evidence being the cooling body she left behind.

Between assassinating rebels, the empire began hiring her to go after the leaders of the more troublesome bandit groups. Though she enjoyed success for quite some time, it wasn't long before a small group of wiser bandits got together, and set up a trap. A contract was placed on one of the group, and the others lay in wait. When Aylira arrived to carry out the killing, she was ambushed and overwhelmed. If not for Sothas' timely intervention, she would have met her end at their hands. Since that day, she has traveled at Sothas' side, determined to repay him for saving her life.

    Name: J'Karta

    Alias: The smiling blade

    Age: 24

    Sex: Male

    Race: Khajiit

    Sexuality: Heterosexual

    Relationship/Marital status: single

    Laterality: ambidextrous

    Afflictions: None

Appearance: J'Karta is similar to his mother in the fact that he has emerald green eyes, and grey fur. He's lean, not very tall, only standing at 5'7", but still manages to come off as ravishingly handsome, even to those who are not khajiit. His fur has a healthy sheen to it, and grey stripes highlight his jaw and eyes, leading back into one large stripe that runs down the back of his head, to the tip of his tail. A single hoop earring is in his right ear. He has a scar on the palm of his left hand, stretching from his little finger to his thumb. The only reminder of how close he once came to death- an assassin attempted to slit his throat, only for the attentive khajiit to grab the blade, saving himself.

Armour: J'Karta wears cour boulli leather. Stronger than most standard leather armours but light enough that he can still move quickly and efficiently. He doesn't where a helmet, allowing his keen ears to pick out sounds that others might miss. Over his armour he wears an enchanted cloak, black in colour. It allows him to levitate for a short period of time, and survive high falls.

Weaponry: A pair of scimitars that he wears on his belt, making them the most obvious of his weapons. However, he also has at minimum four daggers on his person at all times, and is quite skilled at throwing them. He can also fight with them, but relies on the scimitars for the most part.

    Class: Rogue/Assassin

Combat preference: J'Karta likes to be where the combat is thickest, slashing and stabbing through his foe with wild abandon. Or at least it looks that way. Every thrust and slash is carefully calculated, and he'll make sure that he and his allies come out on top, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.

Personality: J'Karta hides his true motives behind a charming smile, and quick jokes, often at the expense of his companions. This hides a cunning mind, that is always scheming to see J'Karta come out on top. He knows it will only help him to keep his allies as confused as his enemies, and switches from the typical third person speech of most khajiit, and back to the imperial accent of his mother and siblings, though there is always a predatory rasp to his tone. He is not above flirting with every female he comes across, even against his better judgement. Despite his cunning and scheming, he's a stalwart friend and loyal ally.

    Religion: Eight divines.

Positive traits: Loyal, quick thinking, friendly

    Negative traits: Deceptive, scheming, greedy.

Likes: Gold, good looking women, alcohol.

Dislikes: Cruelty, misers, law abiding fools.

Fears: Imprisonment, the death of those close to him.

History: J'Karta was born alongside his five siblings, to Shadari, the legendary assassin and nemesis of the mage Jorn Blackthorn. His mother trained him in the arts of subterfuge, charm, and killing. Unlike his siblings, he became a master of disguise, prefering deception over the violent skills the rest of his siblings latched on to. This lead to some teasing by his brothers and sisters, but J'Karta easily deflected their taunts.

When his mother was finally hunted down and killed by the minions of Blackthorn, he joined with his siblings to hunt down and slay the soldiers under the mages command. While the others fought over his mothers possessions, J'Karta slipped away, taking the time to travel Skyrim and several other places throughout Tamriel. He's come back now to make a profit off the fighting in Skyrims' civil war, and perhaps see about joining the hunt for the missing villagers.

I was actually thinking of using a new character. A nord pyromancer who's a little bit less than sane. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, but work's been hellish this week.
