    A Friendly Brit
Ever since the end of the Skyrim Civil War, High King Ulfric Stormcloak has reigned over Skyrim with an iron fist. Under his rule, the Nords of Skyrim have prospered, and the foreign races have been oppressed. None as much as the Imperials, however, who under Ulfric have suffered a great deal.

Ulfric's reign has gone utterly unchallenged thus far, at least it had, until an attempt on his life a few days ago. Three hooded men smashed through the window in Ulfric's palace during a meeting with his generals. Two lieutenants and a captain were slain, aside two assailants. The third was captured, and tortured.

Under interrogation the man revealed excruciatingly little to Ulfric and his men. After every nail pulled, every punch, every finger removed, the man would simply repeat the harrowing line, "The Fire will claim you." He was beheaded the next day, by Ulfric himself, outside the palace in Windhelm.

Two days passed before an Imperial man came before Ulfric with valuable information. He said that the man was from the elusive Cult of Fire, a revolutionary movement that wanted to overthrow Ulfric. He said that the Cult has four leaders, all answering to a single ruler. No-one knows where they are based, who they are, or how many they number. The Imperial's body was found on the banks of lake Calenhad the next day, with a fireball symbol carved into his bare, bruised chest.

The call went out from Ulfric for Skyrim's bravest and boldest to make their way to Windhelm, to be briefed by Ulfric, charged with hunting down and cutting the head off of the snake that is the Cult of Fire.

    +++

So, this idea came to me the other day and I had to follow up on it. If you've made it this far, thank you for having the patience to stick out the vague and somewhat boring opening. HOWEVER, I can guarantee that whatever impressions you have are wrong. There is far more to this story than it seems, and it's a good'un.

The players will be playing as the crew that answers Ulfric's call to hunt down the Cult. Before we get into rules, I'd like to point out that this RP is 18+. That means vivid descriptions of blood and gore, a lot of drinking, gambling, drugs, and, quite possibly, sex. So, for the rules:

1 - No godmodding. This one doesn't really need stating.

2 - No scripting of other player's characters. Unless of course it's been prearranged or the person has gone mysteriously missing during the course of the RP.

3 - Ideally I'm looking for 4-8 relatively skilled and experienced players to part-take in this story.

4 - You may have either one or two characters if you think you can cope with them. Also feel free to add NPCs that you think would benefit the story.

5 - Please follow the CC template given below.

6 - Posts must be at least one paragraph (5 sentences) and at least one a week.

7 - If you are going to be absent, please let me know a couple of days in advance if possible. If you want to leave that's perfectly fine, just write your character out in a blaze of limb-ripping glory. If temporary, then we can think up a way of keeping your character involved without killing them.

8 - I'm entirely open to suggestions. If you feel you can improve the story, I want your ideas.

Hmm. Looks good :p It does pretty much limit our characters to Nords though, which might put some people off. I suppose heartless, soulless people of other races might turn up too :p Well, I'll see what I can come up with.

Oooh... this looks nice, I'll keep an eye on this one. Plus what epic said.

I didn't take in to account that it limits to Nords, I apologise, that wasn't intentional. Any idea on how to fix that without breaking Ulfric's xenophobic persona? Guess he could pick a single person and he/she could be charged with assembling a team.

I like nords, I basically have a Nord already. I'm watching this

I got a Nord, and some other chars. I figure the Xenophobia for Imperials, maybe Beast races and Elves, but what about other races (Orcs, Redguards, Bretons and such)? Because that would give RPers more options.

    Blitzz

    A Friendly Brit
The beast folk would obviously be discriminated against, but nothing says your character has to join from the very start. The human races would be fine except Imperials, but there are numerous ways to get around this. I think I'm going to change it anyway, and have my character be recruited by Ulfric to recruit a team from the various holds. That will make it easier for everyone to get any character they want into it. Skyrim's population is not limited in terms of races, simply that certain races are considered lesser by Ulfric and the Nords.

I just read point 3. You do know I'm not an experienced RP'er, is that a problem?

The 'Ideally' is there for a reason. It's unlikely that I'm gonna get 6 RP veterans. You can join if you want, I have no problem with that as long as you can abide by the rest of the rules and make this a learning experience. It's a tad easier than AoW at least :p

Where would the RP begin? Candlehearth hall?

I've been in one RP, I could dig it up and show you. I'm not home now, but when I get home I could show you the CC of the Nord I have, I think it's in my blog as well.

Candlehearth Hall would indeed be the starting point. Inns are generally the best place to meet new folk.

Ok, if Epic vouches for you for then you've got to be decent. I can't wait to see what CCs you can come up with.

    BACKSTORY

Childhood: Throgrim was raised as the sun of a Nord blacksmith in the town of Riften. He attended school as normal, and had many friends. His mother served as a wench in the town's tavern, and his dad was in deep with the Riften Thieve's Guild, often acting as an intermediate in their deals in exchange for a cut of the goods.
Early Teens: Throgrim began to study smithing under his father, and proved to be fairly skilled. The work helped build up his muscles, but Throgrim was determined not to earn a mundane living. He longed for action and adventure, and was always looking for an opportunity to expand his borders and see more of Skyrim.
Late Teens: Throgrim was a muscular young adult, so he took up work as a mercenary. The learning curve was steep; he accompanied an experienced mercenary initially, while he learned the skills and the trade. Eventually he broke off and became an independent freelancer.
Adulthood: When the civil war hit, work as a bounty hunter was in rich supply. Numerous bandit groups had recently arisen, and Throgrim became renowned in Riften Hold after taking out the Gleaming Shadows bandit group holed up in a coastal cave, and after clearing Redbelly mine of Frostbite Spiders. eventually his exploits bought him to the attention of Ulfric Stormcloak, who recruited him into his rebellion army. There he met his good friend Rhornkar, and the two became trusted lieutenants of Ulfric. They served by his side on numerous occasions, and led the Stormcloak forces at the Battle of Solitude.

Now, in Ulfric's time of need, he has called upon Throgrim and Rhornkar to rally a group willing to help hunt down those who threaten his reign.

    BACKSTORY (TBA)

Childhood: Rhornkar was raised in Falkreath, son of the Guard Captain stationed there. As a result of his parentage Rhornkar was groomed to serve in the guards. He was given a military-based schooling rather than regular education.
Early Teens: As soon as he became a teenager, Rhornkar began his training. His father had a sword made specially for him, and initially he trained with that, but his strength allowed him to wield much more powerful weapons, so he moved on to a warhammer.
Late Teens: Rhornkar became a guard at 18, serving under his father. He was well liked by the people of Falkreath and was content to stay there and serve.
Adulthood: When the rebellion started, Falkreath was claimed as an Imperial City. Rhornkar's father was removed as guard captain, so they decided to leave. They set their sights on Windhelm, and both Rhornkar and his father enlisted with the Stormcloak rebellion. Rhornkar's father quickly became one of Ulfric's lieutenants, but was slain at the battle of Whiterun when leading the forces that were sent to clear the Wind District of Imperial Soldiers. Rhornkar watched his father fall, and then led the forces that cleared the district in his stead, claiming his father's hammer, Comet, as his weapon. Ulfric promoted him to Lieutenant, in his father's stead, and he lead the forces that claimed Fort Snowhawk. He met his close friend Throgrim here.

Now, in Ulfric's time of need, he has called upon Throgrim and Rhornkar to rally a group willing to help hunt down those who threaten his reign.

This is what I have as a CC as it is:

    Name: Fenris Oak-Bender
    Age: 28
    Birth date: 14th of Heartfire
    Birthplace: Falkreath, Skyrim
    Birth sign: The Warrior
    Race: Nord
    Class: Guardian
    Gender: Male
    Height: 6'0
    Weight: 180lbs
    Sexuality: Heterosexual
Habits: Playing with his sword when nervous

Appearance: Fenris is a big mean looking fighting machine. Dressed in a Solitude guard armor with the Stormclaok officiers gloves and boots for the spikes. He doesn't wear a helmet.

    Hair: Bald
Facial hair: A dark brown stubble beard
    Eye color: Grey/Green
    Skin color: White, pale-ish
Build: Bulky. A healthy mix between fat and muscle.
Scars: Remarkably, his face is clean of scars, despite his hatred of wearing helmets. Fenris has a big scar across his back, Fenris tries to hide this scar almost compulsively, while he doesn't bother to hide the scar running on his right forearm.

Personality: Although Fenris looks like a mean fighting machine, he's quite the softie towards friends. As protective and soft he is toward friends, he is as hard and unforgiving towards foes. The sensitive side of Fenris isn't all about friendlyness: He's upset rather quickly, unsecure wether he's doing the right thing. While he is unsecure at times, Fenris has a stubborn nature. Combine the stubbornness with curiosity and you got an situation where Fenris tends to lose his patience. Loyalty is a big value; Friends are most important. Although Fenris is more than capable of taking care of himself, he fears to be abandoned.

Positive traits: Caring, Protective, Curious, Sensitive, Loyal
Negative traits: Sensitive, Stubborn, Inpatient, can be paranoid
Likes: Mead, his sword, calm situations like a night around the fire.
    Dislikes: Unloyalty, Wearing helmets, Cheese.
    Fears: Spiders and chaurus. Abandonment.

Combat Style: Fenris is a melee fighter only. He never had interest in magic or archery. This is making him a limited but specialised fighter. Fenris has one unique fighting move, which often surprises most foes. He throws his sword at an enemy, continuing the fight unarmed towards his sword again. (hence the spikes on his bracers and boots)

    Skills

    Expert:
two handed: Fenris uses a Nordic greatsword. Made by himself during his Blacksmith's apprentice years. Also tends to like unarmed combat a bit too much.

    Adept:
Smithing: The years of being a blacksmith's apprentice served Fenris his skills and strength well.
Light armor: Despite of being an all-out melee fighter, Fenris doesn't like to be slowed down by heavy armor.

    Apprentice:
Block: Despite of not using a shield, Fenris has learned quite a bit of blocking with just his sword and the metal parts on the bracers.

Yes it needs to be edited to fit the format and would need a bit of a backstory added, but I like him as a character, and you are quite a good writer.

I don't think they're that similar. We have a Nord that likes a night around the fire, a nord that likes a night socialising and a nord that likes sleeping with as many people as possible [emoji14]

Thanks! I'll edit it tomorrow after work. I have to re-read a bit of the other RP to regain his story. It's been a while, to write the backstory. I'm kinda excited since I can now use a character I've already made :D
