Personality
Description: He is a very patient, loyal and helpful friend and companion. He is very trustworthy and caring to those that he believes deserve it, and he will go unbelievable lengths to earn their trust in return. He tries his best to be modest, and shows that his skills are only needed when absolutely necessary. If he feels like certain information is necessary, he will share it with those around him. Though he has a quiet and calm air about him, he tends to stumble around himself. This is likely where his severe Social Anxiety tends to stem from, among other things. This can often come across as clumsy and unintelligent, but those who see the sense of focus and determination that he brings to everything he does, knows that this is simply not the case.
His diligence, focus, and determination to get things done can be quite intimidating, and he will attempt to go through every obstacle presented without fail. If ever found alone (quite often), Delsin can be seen talking or muttering thoughts to himself, or even singing to himself. He attributes this habit to his mind being overactive, and finds it quite embarrassing when caught. This often leads to him over thinking his actions, and can lead to severe anxiety attacks or panic attacks.
His determination and focus usually comes into play during his battles or duels in which he is most likely using a weapon. This can also source from his incredible ferocity in battle, as it often overwhelms him, as long as he is in the midst of it all that is. If he finds himself surrounded, or inside a thick horde of enemies, he is said to let out a loud roar, that sounds as terrifying as the Black Lions of High Rock.
Temper: Medium - High, He has very good control, however he is capable of loosing it
Outlook: Very Positive; he has an incredible ability to retain hope, no matter what the situation, and is often the person who puts his own needs aside to help others regain their own hope.
Honor: Copious Amounts of It. He believes that a person is defined by what they have done, what they will do, and how they act. Honor plays a big part in this, because he wants to be remembered in a positive way: An Honorable Traveler of Knowledge and Skill.
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Good: Calm, Calculated, Trusting, Knowledgeable, Strategic, Motivated, Understanding, Open-Minded, Hopeful, Selfless, Diligent, Quirky, Unique
Bad: Seems over determined, Can push people away with his deceiving demeanor, Easy to Misjudge, Anxious, Nervous, Over thinking
Likes: Animals and Creatures, Plants and Alchemy, Potion Making, Bartering, Hunting and Tracking, Climbing, Parkour, Helping Others, Traveling, The Cold (the more bitter the better), Wilderness and Life
Dislikes: Ignorance, Disrespect, Racism, Spiders..., Dishonor, Spiders... (This is rooted in fear mostly…), large crowds, large amounts of people
Fears: Spiders, The Unknown, Magicka
Phobias: Arachnophobia, Trypophobia, Xenophobia, Rhabdophobia (fear of magicka)
Habits/Quirks: He paces over his thoughts and tends to speak them aloud, Takes every opportunity learn and add to his knowledge on Beasts and Plants alike, Can get Caught up in his own head about really pointless things, Sometimes Overdoes things, likes to talk/sing to himself.
Goals: He wants to travel all of Tamriel in order to advance his bestial and alchemical knowledge. He wants to find out who he is, and who his parents were, this is his main motivation in life at the moment. He wants to learn all that he can about the world.
Ebongleam
Shade
Gear & Fighting Style
Head: Dark Azure cloth Hood, and matching cowl that leads to a long, matching cloak
Chest: Dark leather Chest Piece, with dark azure cloth shirt underneath, and a dark azure cloak on his back
Arms: Dark Leather Gauntlets
Waist: Dark Azure Belt, with a sword sheathe
Legs: Black Leather Pants
Feet: Dark Leather Boots
Every Day Carry: Delsin carries a very small amount of items on his person at all times. He always carries his own Bestiary Journal, that he hopes to completely fill, but has only filled it with creatures of Skyrim (so far). He also carries another journal that has his descriptions of many alchemical ingredients and plants. He also plans on filling this out over time. For some “on the go” alchemy, he carries a collection of Alchemy Vials, that he almost always has stocked, as well as an Alchemist Pouch. In his Travel Bag, he carries a mortar and pestle, and some wooden bowls as well. Due to his traveling, and limited carrying capacity, he also has many caches of gear throughout Skyrim. These Caches can hold things like ingredients for food, shelter tools, and plenty of other things.
Weapons: His own, custom made Birch and Ebony Bow called Ebongleam, many handmade arrows, and 2 dual daggers. All that he has made himself. The only weapon he hasn't made himself, is his black bladed kopis sword called Shade. He also carries the hilt of his father’s sword, called Narsil, that he wishes to reforge when his skills in that area are better. It is said that this sword can catch fire on demand, and burn the flame that best suits it’s enemy.
Magicka: He knows a small amount of Restoration magicka, but unless alchemy is counted as magicka, nothing else. However, his unusual affinity towards extreme cold presents a sort of immunity to some forms of ice magicka, however this is just a theory that he has concocted over the years.
Fighting Abilities: He is best with his bow. He likes to hit his targets and enemies before they even know that he is there. Though he prefers being at a long range with it, he can resort to using it in close combat as well. However, close combat is what he mainly uses his sword for, as he is well known for his ferocity with it (though his skill with it is lacking a bit). His skills with climbing and sneaking are proficient enough for him to be deadly at a distance, as well as while undetected. He only uses his daggers when he absolutely needs to in combat (no other weapons etc.), but that is seldom the occasion.
Fighting Style: He sticks to high places, where he can rarely be seen, letting his arrows fly, then moving positions. He is also proficient in close combat with a bow, using it as a melee weapon, while weaving around his opponents, and letting arrows fly. In situations where range or using a bow is not an option, he will unleash his skills with a blade, attempting to cut through anything that he counts as his enemy.
Bio
[Unfinished, missing alot of information about his current identity. Ask me any questions you have on the matter.]
The date and location of Delsin’s birth, like his parents, have been unknown to him for as long as he can remember. He was always told about the day his foster father stumbled upon his silent infant body, abandoned and alone in the bitter cold of The Pale’s frozen tundra. “Ever since that day, you have been as immune to the snow, as an Ice Wraith during a blizzard,” his father often teased. However, his father wasn’t entirely wrong, Delsin had always noticed his unnatural ignorance, almost enjoyment, of the extreme and bitter cold of The Pale.
“Twentieth of Sun’s Dawn. That was the day you became Delsin Ash-hand, our first son!” He always remembered his Father telling him. Seryn Ash-hand had always been a good father to Delsin, even if they weren’t biologically related. With or without Delsin’s slight dunmer heritage and looks, Seryn thought of him as nothing short of his true-born son. Even his foster mother, Freyja Ash-hand had been caring. However, even in his earliest memories, he had always felt the absence of his true blood.
Growing up in Dawnstar, Delsin fell in line with his father’s footsteps, becoming a mine hand at the young age of 7. The tasks given to him were simple, whether they be fetching the miners refreshments, or hauling out loads of ore and stone. In between his duties, and learning about the many minerals that his father had been searching for, Delsin picked up the hobby of reading. Though it wasn’t much of a hobby, considering his choices for literature bounced between his mother’s cookbooks, and that of the forgotten notes that he found in the mines. However, a young barmaid, noticed young Delsin’s interest in reading, and gave him a book of his own. “The Herbalist’s Guide to Skyrim” was it’s title, and by the time Delsin had turned 9, he had read the book cover to cover enough times that he had it’s contents memorized. However, he thought it useless to possess the knowledge of plants and herbs, if he didn’t practice doing something with them. Thus began his fascination with Herbology and Alchemy.
During the spark of this fascination, he asked the barmaid if she could bring him more books to read. Preferably those focused on the practice of alchemy. She agreed happily, and once every month or so, presented him with another book. Though not all of the literature was focused on his preferred fascination, he still enjoyed reading all that he could. Especially those centered around adventure, and hunting, and the many creatures that dotted the landscapes of Tamriel. One of his favorites was the book “Kyne’s Challenge”, which sparked his imagination with the many creatures that existed beyond his little village. This was the beginning of another fascination, with that of hunting and learning about the creatures of the world.
With his new obsession with hunting and wildlife, Delsin wished to start training with the bow; so that he could act on his need to learn about the creatures around him. At the age of 10 his father finally accepted Delsin’s plea for training, and together they started immediately. It didn’t take long for Delsin to quickly develop skills with the weapon, and before long, he was out shooting his father, who was nothing short of a novice himself. This left Delsin to practice alone, which often led to him hunting the small game that were found around Dawnstar. He would bring some home to his mother, for family meals, but would also sell some in order to start paying the barmaid who had given him many books over the years. He didn’t make much in the process, but he also had no use for the money at his age, so he saw no better usage.
As he did this, a small group of local hunters noticed Delsin’s prowess with hunting small game, and offered to help the boy learn with the bow, as well as with the practice of being a hunter. Though he never ventured far from home, like the hunters often did, he still learned all he could. Though tracking was an important part of the trade, Delsin never really liked doing it. What he particularly enjoyed, outside of using his bow, was stalking and tracking the game he was after. It was something that he was good at, as he could memorize the difference in tracks from animal to animal, and learned fairly quickly their different habits in the wild.
By the time he had turned 12, Delsin was as skilled with the bow that he could possibly be at his age. He had mastered all of the herbs and alchemical ingredients that he could in his village, and was growing tired of hunting the same small game day in and day out. At the same time, he had developed the hobby of writing. Though he wasn't much into that of adventure stories or fictions, he rather enjoyed sketching plants and animals, and writing what he knew and discovered about them. Around the same time, Delsin’s father had noticed his yearning to explore the rest of the world, and started to feel sympathy for him. Seryn wanted Delsin to be able to live the life that he wanted to, but had been hiding something from him.
One morning, before Delsin had started his daily activities and duties, his mother and father decided to tell him about the day that they had found him in more detail. They explained that he was abandoned, but in a rather unusual way. Delsin had been hidden away in a forgotten shack in the middle of the tundra, rather than just abandoned, as if he was left with the intention of not being found. His father also explained that he found a completely written out journal near the shack as well, more than likely forgotten. The last page inside the journal, had a sloppily written entry which said:
“Seventeenth of Sun’s Dawn -
They are getting to close to finding us now. I can feel them watching us when I try to sleep. Anisa worries about me, and more about Delsin. They don’t know that we have him with us yet, and I fear that they will find out soon. I am going to leave him in our hideout here, and Anisa and I will run. Odds are we will face them soon enough, and I don’t want to risk the child’s life. We have to return for him.”
Delsin was shocked by this discovery, and was more than grateful to his parents. However, at this time, he knew that he had to leave. Not only to follow his dreams, but trace his father’s footsteps in order to find out who he was, who his Parents were. The next day, Delsin set off for Falkreath, with the guidance of the local hunters who had taught him about hunting for the last couple of years. He left with nothing but his bow, his belongings, and some rations of food, following the journal Seryn had given him.
After that, Delsin had done nothing but travel. Moving from place to place under the guidance of his father’s journal, and the motivation to learn about as many creatures and plants that he could. He made many friends with hunters and travelers along the way, broadening his young mind about the many different types of people in Tamriel.
His father’s journal led him all over most of the southern part of Skyrim, but he had always returned to Falkreath to decipher his father’s trail. He had done this for a year or so, hunting and gathering in order to sustain enough gold to eat and sleep, as well as practice his alchemy and learning. This year gave him a lot of time to think, and he decided that his father probably came from the Western provinces on a hunch.
When he made his way into High Rock, Delsin remembered his father referring to a man who had helped them months before the journal had been written. His name was Emeric and he was supposedly a survivor man who had lived in the wild, mountainous forests of High Rock. Delsin decided that his best chance of following his father’s trail, would be to find this man.
