Hello,
I play a mage. A bored overpowered mage who is looking for something new to do. I thought about taking Dark Brotherhood quests.
I have, however, a few questions:
1.What is the character of the Dark Brotherhood? Do they do "good" assassinations, or hmm... kill widows and orphans? :)...
I wouldn't agree with choosing "any race you want". The bonuses to skills are irrelevant - that's true. But the innate abilities (e.g. magic resistance) can be quite meaningful at various times in the game. Yeah, they won't change your life - but can be useful if well-chosen.
Illusion - disagree. If you play a mage you can base almost all your fights on illusion and win them easily. Perks are necessary to get the level multipliers and affect some types of creatures. I could equally say that sneaking is totally useless - why bother if you can fireball everyone... o_0...
Breton is a good choice (Resist Magic 25% + 50% absorb once per day). Altmer isn't bad either (50 magicka - equivalent of 5 levels - and super-magicka-regen once per day can be sometimes lifesaving). I would avoid Dark Elves - which some people suggest for various mage-like builds, but they only...

I assume that by "early" you mean from the beginning of the game.
It is possible, but I find it slightly less efficient.
The reason is simple: you don't have enchantments to make it work very well. You could use some random heavy armour you buy/find, but it is much better to...
Ahh, it's not on the wiki so it doesn't exist ;). You have to use the Atronach Forge.
Enjoy!
Panthera - you mentioned you have been using illusion. Just passively (invisibility) or also actively? Have you maybe seen whether it would fit with conjuration/destruction build, as above, or would...
Jaeger - what do you mean they double flesh spells?
Hooded Thalmor Robes are just normal robes with Fortify Destruction enchantment. It is the Mage Armor perk of alteration school which doubles the flesh spells when used with any clothes/robes. Which I mentioned.
First - hello to all of you! :). I have just found this community and hopefully I will stay here for a while.
[Into - skip if you're bored]
I have been playing pure mage for a while (becoming arch-mage before hitting level 10 etc.). Then I learned a bit more about the game mechanics... I...
