I will try 1.8 at some point; thank you for the reminder and glimmer of hope. Of late, trying to figure out my modded-pc-Skyrim-broken-by-Dawnguard problem became too emotionally draining. I am playing Oblivion on xbox.

Oh man! That is the most frustrating aspect of "troubleshooting" something like Skyrim right? You don't even know if it is going to work, and the test subject is actually a very personal creation (your character).
