    I already tried 1.8 and it didn't help anything. And I'm not about to go all the way through the quest line from the beginning with a new character again, only to have it die on me. So, I've about given up at this point.

    More for the record, my very first playthrough of Dawnguard indeed got as far as Durnehviir teaching me how to call him, and me trying to search for the rest of my captured soul, when I crashcrashcrashcrashcrashcrashcrashed and couldn't go any further. So that's my high water mark at this point.

    Perhaps, but I do have a couple of mods (Immersive Armors and Jaysus Swords, mainly) that you'd have to have for it to work.

    Yeah, it's almost November, and this is still happening for me. I spent a month and a half building an entirely new character for the express purpose of playing Dawnguard, and almost never had any crashes, even playing through the Dawnguard quests... until I entered the Soul Cairn. Again...

    It happens for different people in different locations. With me, I have no problem with it until I enter the Soul Cairn. Then, crash crash crash.

    You can use any image uploading site, such as imgur.com -- just create an account, drag and drop in the screenshots, and grab their URL. Then just click "Insert/edit image" in the edit window in here, paste the URL, and bobsyeruncle.

    There should be a button labeled "SHOW ON DISK". This opens the folder in which the screenshot JPGs physically reside.

    Hi. New poster here. My character is (or was, until the Dawnguard expansion ruined the save game) a level 42 Orcish Samurai dual-wielding tornado of pain. With my legendary-dragonscaled, crossbow marksman follower, we are the Vampire Slicers.

    It's not currently known exactly which mods are causing these crash issues, but the danger is clear: the effects of some mods cannot be completely removed from a saved game, due to the presence of leftover script calls. Up to the time Dawnguard was released, this was much less of a problem...
